OK Carbies, I've been looking around for some desk options equivalent to the YouTuber Jayz, RandomFrank etc guys setup with IKEA draws, table tops and the like but I can't find any local options I don't see myself paying for this Alex drawer and this Table top. Maybe someone knows someone that can build similar things? or a shop that sells components like IKEA?

Checked Decofurn some decent desks there also saw a decent one at builders.

Or, you know, door desk

TY! Sir this is perfect.. something to start with.

Thanks dude, a thread will be coming soon
Yes please tag me if you remember too..

Yea i love a D.I.Y but simple things. like i dont wanna paint and coat and worry about door sealer to prevent bending or whatever that vids comments said. I want something i can mod down the line.. Remove the drawer section and replace with poles or add steps inbetween etc.

For me? looking at the vid posted i think exactly the same. maybe just have drawers on one side and poles/Trestle on the other for more legroom.

Might be brain storming with a friend this weekend to creat something using supa wood or counter tops and screws. May see something on that as well.

We ended up buying some draws from builder and using some spacers and a counter top. Desk came out as she wanted it but i still think the cost could have been cheaper if more time was spent on finding better deals.

This is what I ended up doing. Wanted a very specific desk setup because wanted to show off my pc like the filthy neckbearded PCMR pleb that I am. Couldn't find anything for sale so said fek it, got some supa wood from Builders and built and varnished my own desk. Came out quite nice actually and strong as all hell. That thing isn't going anywhere. A massive amount of space as well.

Flat wide bottom with a 'floating' lip where my monitor arms and sound system and mic arm and chasis all sit amongst a few other things. Quite proud of it actually.

Will do so when I get home this afternoon. If there was one thing I would have done differently (just got lazy at the end of the day lol) , I would have chamfered the edges as they are just sharpish right angles currently. Maybe in the future when I move and will inevitably have to make a different sized desk or whatever.

Had the same challenge trying to replicate the ikea desk hack as best with local stock, without breaking the bank.
I ended up going with 3m kitchen worktop from Leroy Merlin, with wall brackets on one side, and white axa drawers from decofurn on the other side:

Kitchen worktop laminate boreal oak L300XD65XT3.8cm water repellent treatment

Decofurn Furniture :: AXA MOBILE 3 DRAWER UNIT

Really happy with the counter top....solid....might change up the drawers in future if find something better...... quality ok but not great.

Another vote for Builders Warehouse PG Bison counter tops:

Price is R799 until 5 Oct.

The legs you can get from Gelmar from R62 per leg. Much cheaper than Builders' legs:
(they have a lot of leg options)

Only other thing you would need is a way to attach counter to the wall. Either brackets or batons (like 2 by 4's). These things are sturdy AF
