I'm guessing he missed the condition part about it being sealed. But you can mine your hdd's for storage and earn dollars.

But obviously yours is sealed xD

Overworked...hdd mining not all that prevalent but too many plots will wear it out over time...never tried this route to realise actual impact but nevertheless it's a risk
