Description of bad deal: Purchase a GPU and Waterblock but still have not received the block.

Okay let me begin my tale.

On the 15th of October I made a deal with @Jypels for a GTX 1080 FE and waterblock for R4500

On the 16th @Jypels received payment it was done by @witpapier I can get the details from him if need be . According to him he was unable to send the unit that day due to loadshedding.

On the 17th I contacted @Jypels and asked if he was able to send the units but again he was unable to send due to loadshedding.

On the 18th I contacted @Jypels again. He then informed me that the card was damaged while he was cleaning it and the it no longer working. but he would quickly refund me. Later that day he contacted me saying that he has a friend who is also selling a 1080 fe but he was selling it for R5000. I then told him that I would rather prefer the refund he said that the payment would be done by 8h that night. At 8h he told me that he is waiting on the "instant" payment to clear and that can take up to 12hours.

On the 21st I contacted @Jypels and advised that the money still did not show. He the told me that he would make an an instant payment. I then told him if his friends card was still available I would give him R4800 for the gpu and block. He then found a 1080 fe for R4500 and we agreed on me paying an additional R300 for that gpu and block.

On the 23de I arranged a courier to pick up the package by him but he was not home when the courier was there for pickup.

On the 24th the was picked up and sent.

On the 28th I received the package.... but there was no waterblock inside. I the contacted @Jypels and asked him what was going on he told me that he forgot to put it inside the box with the gpu. Now why he did not immediately contact me on the 24th to tell me that he forgot the block .... I do not know.

On the 29th I contacted @Jypels again and asked him if he he sent the block yet. He told me that he had not sent it yet but he will arrange for pickup. Then he told me that he did not really want to send me the block anymore as he was only getting R300 for it and he could sell it for R1000 - R1500. (Once again the deal between me and him was 4800 for the gpu and block.) He then said that the block would be picked up the next day and I will have the block by Friday. I asked him to give me the tracking number as soon as he gets it but he did not reply.

On the 2nd Nov I contacted @Jypels again for the tracking number and again got not reply.


So that is where I am at going in to the 4th week from when the deal was started and still not having the block. I do have all the chats and everything if that is needed.

Here is my side to this story:

I messaged him on the friday to say card isn't posting and I will do a refund. That coming Monday I was willing to do the refund for the R4500 he has paid me. He then wanted me assist him with finding another card which I was willing to do to help him out, I told him that there is a card on facebook for R5000, @Slegmoer then said no he doesn't want to pay so much for a card, later he offered R4800 for the card and the block. I said I will see if the person was willing to budge on his pricing which he was not.

I then found him another card in Parow that was listed for R4500, I made this clear to him and he was happy to take this card, I Drove twice to Parow from Melkbos to go look at the card and to buy it (This is about 200km in total) I Said I am willing to help him out by giving him the block for R300 (Btw which he hasn't paid for, I said he can pay me when he received it)

My whole thing here is, I could have just refunded him his money, Instead I tried to help him,and went through the trouble of finding him a replacement, yes i understand he got frustrated, but his attitude got sour.

So to run it in short:

He paid over R4500, I wanted to refund, Said help me find a card, found a card for R4500 which he was happy with.

I said I'll send him the block for R300 but his attitude has gotten sour.

I am more than willing to help anyone, I also had an issue with @iamgigglz with a faulty CPU, I refunded him and gave R500 extra so that he could get a replacement quicker...

Want to make it clear that he hasn't paid for the waterblock like his message portrays, he has only paid for the card...
 
Yeah but from what I see the waterblock was part of the deal, and he made it pretty clear that he wants it. Did you ship his card already?
 
Yea sorry if that was unclear the extra 300 was to be paid once the block was delivered. The whole reason I did the deal in the 1st place was the gpu and block combo because I am building a water cooled rig. I have received the card from @Jypels but I am still waiting on the waterblock.
The reason I did not take the refund is because I would much rather have a card and block as they are hard to find. I do appreciate that he found me a replacement card after the other one broke. But I do not think that It is unreasonable for me to get a bit frustrated at how long this is taking.... More than 3weeks really?.
 
OK while I know and agree that @Jypels isn't the best communicator out there, I don't think this is AS bad as it seems. From the comms it looks like he did try and sort it out, and while I agree that it's not @Slegmoer 's problem, and it shouldn't take that long, I think it can be solved amicably still. Jypels, you agreed to sell the block for R300. You said he can pay when he receives it, but why you're sour about it now because you forgot to put it in the parcel isn't his fault. You agree to a deal, and IMO if you don't go through with it, according to our rules, he is entitled to that negative Feedback rating (for pulling out of the deal). I also don't see why the refund/replacement thing is a topic or excuse on the delay, from what I see you offered him the refund on the 18th (a Friday) and the other card on the 21st (Monday). Card picked up and everything a few days later. It seems like the card only arriving now is a bit long. Frustration would set in with anyone :)

On the other hand, Slegmoer I feel like I have to agree with Jypels a bit. His comms is a bit lacking and the whole thing has been taking too long, but your attitude and comms was pretty calm and chill up until one specific point - the 28th - when you asked about the waterblock not being in the parcel. I understand it's frustrating, but a slightly more chilled attitude could have gotten you further. Just food for thought. I would also be upset with a message like that.

So, in short, we can handle this simply - Jypels sends the waterblock, Slegmoer pays for it and everyone goes away happy?

So I thought I would give you guys an update on the situation.

Spoiler Alert I still don't have the block.....
Shipping arrangements where made by @witpapier I can ask him to upload the messages if needed.

I contacted @Jypels and offered to arrange and pay for a courier from my side. Arrangements where made but pickup failed to happen.

@Jypels then said it would be more better for him to drop the package off at a post net but that also has not happened.

It has been a month since this deal was started and I still have not received the block. Honesty I don't know what to do to get this guy to send me the block that was part of the deal....
 
@Jypels what the hell, man? This "pickup failed" is a bullshit excuse. Where's the dude's stuff?
 
I must agree with @Porra I recently started using Carb and have done a few deals now and all of them have been perfect max 3 days then I have the things that I bought. But this is by far the worst deal experience by far.

The worst is that he has valid and fair reasons everything and will probably have once now as well but how long is this gona go on for?
 
By the way, @Slegmoer, Jypels is banned and not welcome on Carbonite anymore. Sorry for the bad experience, but I doubt you're going to get your block from him. Rather hunt elsewhere mate.

Yeah it's a shame, but that was Jypels' choice. It's not the first time we've seen dodgy stuff from him. I'm convinced that he uses Carbonite's users as a "quick loan" type thing, where he advertises stuff for a bargain price, gets they money, delays the delivery and then give a refund later on with excuses. It's not the first time he's done it, and I'm sure your case was one of the "better" ones.
