So i have a dead Sapphire rx vega 64 reference card.

Dead. No display, no gputach lights, fan not spinning.

I opened it up... Found 3x ceramic smd caps blown, removed and cleaned them off... still nothing however core seems to get very slightly warm when i try to power it up.

What is the likeliness that getting some fresh capacitors soldered on will bring it back to life? anyone has these capacitors or can i scavenge them from another dead gpu?

Was thinking about getting a quality soldering iron to attempt this job, but since my soldering skills are weak, now i put it up on bidorbuy also, pending any other ideas you guys & girls may have...

Below are the approximate location of caps blown:

Hi I am a electronic Engineer and do Gpu repairs, it’s not easy working on these cards they are designed that the entire pcb acts like a heat sink a soldering iron would just stick to the pcb as the heat gets absorb into the card, I am afraid you need proper tools before you attempt a high level repair on the cards like a decent hot air station and a preheat plate or oven for the pcb you could end up doing more damage like lifting or breaking tracks and pads, and by the sounds of it the card might have more damage than just those caps

Ya what he said. Not. Just bridge out where the cap were and see if you can get something with a light load?

By the looks of you markings those caps are part of the Vrm section the vega has a 12 phase vrm for power delivery it has 6 phase pwm Irb ic controller then runs through phase doublers to get to 12 phases those caps look like power delivery to the phase doublers most likely the caps phase doublers ic and maybe mosfets will need replacement, Amd hopefully has not killed the core, the chip getting slightly warm is because your memory controller starts up before the vrm on these cards and suppling around 1V to it it’s the smaller two dies at the bottom

I would have done this, got nothing to lose... but someone bid for it on BoB so dont want to mess it up more... if they dont conclude the deal will try bridging
