Position Available: Develop / Modify a ticketing system to "track" computer repairs
Salary: 0 - 2500
Starting Date: ASAP
Location: Anywhere
Job Description/Requirements:

I am looking for someone to customize a ticket system, something like OSticket , or offer an alternative.

I want a customer to be able to log a repair on my website

Something like this :

Click a button
Select laptop
Brand
Model number and serial
describe issue
fill in ram/hdd size
charger included or not
Click submit

We get a ticket / quote request with the customer details and we can respond, i would like the information the customer fills in to be printable or be able to export it to pdf

On the admin side i would ofcourse like to have something like
accept ticket,
change the status to assigned,
on the bench / repair in progress
repair completed / send quote

I have used OSticket in the past before and it works great but i honestly have no time to fiddle with it , i am also open to suggestion on something that can be bought off codecanyon and YOU customize it to fit the need of my repair process.

I haven’t used it myself, but what about RepairShopr?

Yes, it has monthly fees, but custom dev isn’t cheap at all - at least not if you want code that isn’t buggy, is decently optimized, doesn’t have 100 vulnerabilities, etc. With POPIA coming into full effect soon, vulnerabilities could bankrupt you with a single exposure (fines starting at R 10k per leaked record up to a maximum of R 10 million and/or ten years in prison). You’re unlikely to find something POPIA compliant, but as it’s our version of GDPR, GDPR compliance should do.

I Have been looking at this for a while and almost signed up before our beloved covid hit.

I cant justify 800 per month on the system at the moment, i need to plan for rent and personnel for the new year .

The system will basically be just for tracking repairs and wont be linked to any cms system, at least not yet.

I will look into something a bit more secure and compliant maybe 6 months after making the move to new premises

I am sure you want something pre built and awesome, but it would be fun to build something using a google form, (which goes to a google sheet) and then use IFTTT to send out emails and update tickets in google sheets

I am sure i would be able to do something myself i had the time but honestly, time is one thing i dont have, between the travels and 20 hour workdays, i am honestly gatvol of worrying over other things hence the post lol.

At least you can laugh about it :ROFLMAO:

A better idea (and free!) would just be to take a few minutes each day and drop each a mail.

Good day,

I trust you are well.

This is just an update to let you know that your laptop is number # in the queue to be assessed.

Kind Regards,
Scorps

No lol, i want to be lazy lol.

its hard to this for about 30 devices a week coupled with average of 2500ks of travelling weekly.

end of the day is meant for work that came in during the day when not there, but if i cant find a solution in my budget then i might be forced to do this

Have a look at odoo

You can install the community version on your server. You can get a cheap VPS to run it.

I know a company that uses their help desk tool, and I believe it can do what you're after. they also have a whole plethora of other modules, like invoicing and crm that all link together.

Community edition. You can give it a go on your PC.

Zendesk is my Go To for support tickets, You can mod your website to send the support query/form to support@mycompany and filter it and assign tickets like that.

All you will need is a Custom form to be implemented and send to a email dedicated for Zendesk

Very expensive it seems, the free versions are crippled so not much use I would assume. They're obviously trying to push people to higher tiered products.

There is no free version. Zendesk is a suite of products but it’s the best in class.

@ScorpioMan86 I would consider the Google Forms solution especially if you plan on moving later and want to import that data somewhere else.

I agree, Zendesk is pay to play however it is really really worth the hassle, You can even introduce a SLACK channel for even better communication between your employees for repairs if they were to work ways out or if you are somewhere and would like to remind them in a #Support channel or something. and they are compatible with eachother.

But All in all I agree with @dalion619 on the Google forms if you want to move later on without the data incompatible hassle.

Hi, I have quite an extensive portfolio of helpdesk projects i've developed using osticket. I will happily assist you so that you won't have to pay the crazy subscription fees that all those cloud based helpdesks charge.
