+ will the Backplates be vented like the factory backplates at all?

If it's laser cut, I'm 99% sure it will be. I'm considering designing something and spray painting it pure white to glow under UV light, but I'll need the dimensions of the PCB first. I'm considering a backplate that "clips" to the sides of the PCB without screws, so it can be clipped on and off as needed, but I'm not sure how that'll work.

PS to clarify I'm not sure how it'll work since perspex is a "2D surface", so to speak, but I'll need "3D" level cutting to create the clips. I'll see what I can do though. Maybe cut the plate and plan the clips to "clip" into the plate and then onto the PCB, I dunno. Will try and work something out.

@Maximums_Rickimus what format are you looking at getting for the laser cutting? Perspex thickness?

Okey Guys. I have some updates. I apologize if I have not gotten back to you yet on PMs, I promise I will, I've just been so overwhelmed with all the requests I'm trying to do one at a time and make some designs to put on here.

Please if you want to enter the competition PM me with the Heading Competition for Backplate GPU. I will also need a picture of your PC and a picture of the design you want. It does not have to be a professional drawing. It can just be a drawing on Paint, as long as I can get the right idea of what you want.

RGBs will definitely be a thing in the future for these backplates. At the moment I'm struggling to source the header cables for the RGB LEDs which make it a bit difficult (RGB LEDs are easy to come by). I will however be ordering the RGB LEDs and Header Cables from overseas (unfortunately the only affordable suppliers I can find are overseas) and the RGB Backplates should be in production by the end of November at the latest.

So far I have a few entries for the competition and am looking forward to your designs.

Tried to get from @Fox22743 ?

I can definitely do a glow in the dark paint for you. It will not be to difficult. I am also looking at the possibility of custom made vinyl designs in the faaaar future. The format for most laser cutting is vector files but I can easily create a vector file if I know what the design will look like. Ventilation can easily be done with laser cutting provided it is included in the design.

There are many different varieties of perspex and if you want to go for a more expensive option but also more durable I can also make a vinyl plastic which is a bit more hardy. The thickness of the perspex can be either 3mm, 6mm or 10mm but generally if you plan on doing a double layer for back lighting I would recommend the 3mm so that you would end with 6mm. Let me know what your ideas are buddy and we can plan something out. Please send me your design and enter the competition.

I'm going to enter the competition. Just waiting for my card so I can make measurements and do the design. :p

Just another idea.

I'd love to see your deign buddy. Please enter the competition. If you're struggling to get the measurements check if you cant find any online. Usually it will be on the data sheet.

Just another idea.
These are some awesome ideas. Thanks.

Hi buddy, yes I can make you a custom side panel that is fully perspex if you send me your design. In the future I will also be looking at custom made side panels with custom vinyls on.

Hi peeps. One day left to enter the competition.

I will be posting the 10 entries or even more tomorrow and then the finalists will be decided. For the finalists I will have the Carbonite community choose the best three designs in a seperate poll I will be running. Please make sure to vote for the best design. THIS IS GOING TO BE SO AWESOME GUYS!!!!

As promised results are in and I will be starting a poll tomorrow at noon. The contestants are as follows:
1. KeagZ
2. PancakesZA (pending reply)
3. Delokes (pending reply)
4. equilibrium3663
5. ScuBaLlama
6. Flex
7. Hale_59 (pending reply)

There are still some spots open so I will allow a few late entries until the end of today.

Please note that the ones who have "(pending reply)" next to their names have to send me a picture of their system as well as the dimensions of their graphics card. Good luck and may the best designs win (there are a few designs I'm really liking here).

PLEASE NOTE: RGB lighting and vinyls will not be an option at this time as I am still sourcing the parts to make the RGB lighting an option on the GPU backplates and the vinyls I will have to source a printing company who can print the designs with a durable and cost effective vinyl.

Aww bummer :( I won't have a design done by then. :(

What I had in mind is something like this @Maximums_Rickimus:

Quick job, needs to be polished A LOT still, but that's about what I had in mind. Can it be done?

Hey buddy, yeah this can definitely be done. Sorry for not replying on all your posts, been a bit overwhelmed. Please PM me this design as well as a picture of your pc and the dimensions of your GPU pcb so I can enter you into the competition.

I'll send you all the info tomorrow soonest. Will also clean up the design a lot - I want a different font for the text anyway!

Hi Guys and Girls. Thought I'd just share a teaser design I've been working on for my PC. This will be covering the right hand side of my PC and will have an RGB LED at the back of the black perspex which will radiate through the transparent (white) perspex. The idea is to cover up the right hand side of my box which is bare with something neat to look at.

PS. If you're wondering why I call my PC the widow-maker just ask the missus.
