I was in the need of a Mining Garage for my growing farm, as I quickly began to run out of space. This is my journey of how I converted my garage into a purpose-built mining farm with ample space!

Awesome! How many mining rigs and GPUs in total?

Gamers Hate Him, Miners want to be him.
The divide between gamers and miners is unnecessary. Anyone can mine with their GPUs, even gamers, and earn a tiny bit on the sideline. The reasons for GPU prices are very debatable, but in my opinion the biggest contributor is the silicon shortage and GPU manufacturers that artificially inflating prices.

As a side note, I do not have sponsors and paid for everything out of my pocket at the prevailing market prices. It carries risk, and anyone that has an apatite for risk can do the same.

For me it is a hobby, as I love crypto, especially the technical side of things.

Stay safe!

Nice setup

I considered moving my setup into the garage as well but I find the garage a lot more dusty and I was concerned about heat. Already have my inverters there which warm things up.

Just a question . What system are you using for the cooling and what does something like that cost. Can you share a link.

I was just joking around with you. But I appreciate your thoughful response.
Agree that Gamers can mine in their off-time if they want to.
I do dig your setup.

I am using a Coolbreeze Evaporative cooler. I have the 100S unit (HERITAGE UNITS)

This has several benefits.

1. creates positive pressure inside the garage. this means no dust can get inside from the outside
2. filtered air. since the cooler has wetted cooling panels (celdek panels) the air gets filtered. There are still tiny voids, but it reduces dust ingress significantly
3. energy efficient. I run my unit at 30% speed and it only consumes ~430W. it is much more efficient than an AC
4. large air exchange. replacing the air is better and more efficient than trying to cool stagnant air (with an AC for instance with closed windows). this unit can do up to 2.1m2/s, which is plenty, but currently I do not need this much, but it is possible.

My inverter is installed in my main garage, so luckily I do not have a heat issue in my mining garage.

I will post future updates as my farm grows.

for sure, I did not take it wrong, I just need to give my feeling about the ongoing gamer/miner war.. lol

thanks for your comment! Appreciate it man!

Nice setup...only suggestions are:
1. Security gates?
2. An IP camera for remote monitoring
3. An alarm system
4. A fridge for beer and a comfy chair for a gaming station...lol

for sure, we live in SA... I have cameras, full alarm system with perimeter beams (and armed response), burglar bars, high walls, dogs and the whole 9 yards!!

I still need the beer fridge though.. lol

Interesting, im also mining in my garage and im always struggling with the heat, what size evap cooler do you think i need and isnt corrosion a problem? I thought evap cooling would create a fine mist or something.

Running 56gpus currently so its quite a bit of heat

Hi,

the evaporative cooler does not create mist. It might increase the humidity, depending on the climate you live in, but will be no worse than mining in a coastal region. It might increase the chance of corrosion, but dealing with the heat is a much larger challenge.

I have the Coolbreeze 100S unit, which is their smallest unit and it is more than enough for my needs. As mentioned, I am running it only at 30% fan speed. If an even smaller unit was available, I would have gone with that, but the 100S is the smallest I could get. (still quite big in physical size)
