Hi there

First off sorry if in wrong section

Want to find out if anyone knows a good place in Pretoria to go do my Comptia a+, N+, etc also Microsoft exams and courses?

ignore me I'm just gonna watch this thread

@OP

You can get the guides off the internet, Self study and just pay for the exam it's not that difficult but it's alot of reading especially if you still want to go for MCSA / MCSE.

Also you should consider looking at AWS, it's really a hot field at the moment.

Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info. I think MCSE is not available anymore. Anyway I don't know of any place in Pretoria where I can go do the exams. I know it's a lot of reading but I'm ok with that.

I used Pearson Vue exam centres ( although this was a while back)
I see they are still offering it, dont know about the procedure nowadays but you should
come right via their site.

They also offer MS certs.

thanks for the info. If anyone has more stuff to share please do so. Also maybe a link to some good study materials

If you know your stuff, this is the dude that can better prep you for the exam outcomes.

Technically you can self teach yourself if you need access to material I can help and then as Gpeg mentioned use Pearsonvue to write the tests, Comptia I think you write with them direct.

I will appreciate it if you can help me with materials. You can post here or pm if you like to

when i was doing my A+ and N+ it was a fair bit more than just reading ie there was a practical part to it like for example in the A+ assembling and disassembling PCs and troubleshooting etc - i know someone who did an A+ in the self study method around 25 years back and one day after he apparently finished his course he phoned me and said that he was having a problem making his brand new PC parts work - so i pitched up to his place and i found out that this neanderthal had no clue whatsoever - he had his hard drive IDE cables stuck in some random parallel port on the mobo and he did not find it strange that the connector was way longer than the pin count on the mobo and some pins were empty the way he had it connected 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:   - and this was just one mistake of around 25+ mistakes that he made in the assembly and i found it easier to just unplug EVERYTHING and just restart the assembly process cos i was a newbie myself then - but i made his PC work perfectly

while the above is an extreme example it really happened so i would suggest doing the course somewhere if you want the full benefit of it - reading is all fine but there is so much in those books that you wont actually use - and the lecturers do guide you through the important parts that will help you in the future as well as for your exams and you can just read up the unimportant bits for your own interest at a later stage after you complete the exams

Thanks for the info. I'm kinda just doing my A+ N+ cause to my understanding you need it for the Microsoft stuff. I'm a bit out of the loop how everything has changed. I see MCSE is no longer in existence so don't know where to start. I know not a lot of information as there is many direction to go. I found this place that I can do a course in but don't know if they good or not. I was thinking of going to the place and find out what qualifications I need to do even if I don't use them.

You can study via Boston City Campus and do your exams there. I used to work at a Boston branch. If you need some info, drop me a PM.

Don't mean to derail you from the A+/N+ routes but you should seriously consider cloud courses. Happy to elaborate on the reasons if you need some guidance.

Look I did the A+ and N+ ages ago and that was as a precursor to doing the MCSE ..... It seems like all of these qualifications are now pretty outdated - so yes I would speak to a few people who got into the field currently like maybe a year or two ago and and get some guidance as to which courses can help you improve your own position right now .... People on here seem to be helping but also armed with the information that these people provide it can't do any harm to speak to consultants from the institutions where you can potentially write exams too and see what they suggest too - and remember you don't need to commit to them but tell them you want to weigh up your options as to what is the right course of action for your requirements .... This IMHO would give you a clearer picture than just depending on a single person's advice, and really if multiple people repeat advice then that can't be bad route to follow
