Good morning my fellow beings,

So one day not too many moons ago, one man bought a product from another on a lovely forum that unites techies and the like together.
Upon installation and testing, thy first man notices a noise emanating from his Personal Computer.
Tired, but satisfied the man went to rest for battle the next day.
After a ferocious battle and upon returning home on his trusty steed, the man switched on his Personal Computer and still noticed the noise.
After testing and removing components, it had been asserted that it is indeed coming from the item he had bought the previous day.
Now annoyed, the man contacted the other by smoke signal to state his ordeal and received a message back to state that he will have to take his Personal Computer to something called a Supplier to have tested and if so, will have to go through a process called RMA, whereby he will be without the item for an unknown period. Very annoyed, this man responded by saying that he is not happy and would like a refund. The other gent responded that there was no such fault with the item and that I need to go via this RMA process.

In the interim the man has sourced and installed another item from many mountains away and his Personal Computer is up and running again, quietly.

Now my people, your thoughts will be gladly received.

Indeed that man did.
The item is fully functional, however the noise emanating from thy item has been identified as coil whine/buzz? Which was not mentioned.
As far as research goes on a media know as Internet, this cannot magically appear one day, but rather in a slow and escalating manner over time.
All I know, it's quite annoying.

Put super glue on the coil.

Giveth the the product has been producing this whine of the annoying type since first use upon receiving the product, it is my considered opinion (which does not represent the views of Carbonite Admins, Mods and whiney children or the Wizards' council) that that man shouldth done the aforesaid RMA process himself.

I am not a man of the electronic arts, however one thing I know is to never open a psu. And seriously? I paid premium for a working item with warranty for if something happens, not a current issue.

To add on this. The item was a year and a half older than advertised, and the warranty is ending in a few months and not "remainder of 5 years".

Thank you for the like minded opinion. I had begun having thoughts that I might just be a cock.

Correct, but seller is willing to do shit.
Buyer must take his whole pc to assert if it is the item and then wait for a new one.
Literally a day after the item was bought.

Psu and was local collection and literally a few minutes drive home in a Audi passenger seat - only thing more luxurious and softer than that would be the chest of Jenna Jameson.

PSU coil wine can come from different issues. I had coil wine on a PSU that was in a mining rig. Obviously running at high capacity running a few GPU's when plugged back into my gaming PC the coil wine stopped. So it was only wining at a higher usage.
Now that being said I contacted the retailer anyway to see if I could do something about that wine. They said if I can prove the coil wine is there and loud they will RMA the PSU. Make sure you have video, sound evidence.

RMA that sucker and get a brand new sealed PSU. Sellit or use it.

OR

Bad deals that mofo that sold an item that was actually 1 year older. I take my warranties seriously

P.S its possible his PC uses less watts than yours which is why he didnt hear the coil wine, or he is lying

Refund in full, straight away. Noise is one thing, but 18 months older than advertised is a deal breaker. If no dice, Bad Deal thread.

Sorry sounded to me like a HDD noise. With it being PSU, you'll have to RMA it BUT the "remaining 5 years" thing would irritate me. I always check s/n with my suppliers / ask for retail invoice. I hate when people say "remainder of x" and age is 2-3 years... But maybe I'm just anal like that.

This would have been my opinion as well. And there you have it with admin approval.

No no no no noooooooooo if its one thing I have learnt being in the IT industry for long enough now its that a psu will not suddenly start making a sudden audible noise from the fan. As said before it gradually starts and if its at the point where it sounds like leatherface starting the chainsaw then that has been building up for a good while now and wouldve sounded like that pre shipping. If its a 'premium item' as you put it then its something that and rma should fix without any issue however I am almost 99% sure there is a clause in the rules here on carb that the seller is to assist in the rma thereof as they were the initial buyer as well as the 'go to' person should the item be resold again on the forum

See the item was advertised as Age: 1+ year. But that doesn't equate to 2.5 years? Fine. But only 6 month warranty left as opposed to 2.5 years?
