Hey, thanks for the offer. Based on the so-so reviews of the Audeze Sine, I will politely decline. I'm sure they're not bad headphones, but I'm being quite picky 😜

Sorry, don't mean to hijack thread. How do the sines sound with the MSR7 Pads? Does it change the tonality much? I've been running mine with the CAL! Pads for over a year and I'm happy with the sound (simply because it didn't change much) and comfort improvement but over-ear is tempting...

Headphones are a very personal experience. Buying on reviews without listening for yourself is not recommended. I have owned or trialed extensively every headphone on your list and I rate Sine above them all. Except maybe SRH1540 ... Which you are unlikely to find in your budget. If you are in Pretoria some time you are welcome to try them.

For several years these were my only closed backs in an expansive collection of "former flagship" open backs. I always found them very entertaining with a very grown-up sound. Not boomy or pluggy as some closed backs can be. The mod was mainly to improve comfort (which it does) but I also think it contributed to a more neutral signature, which I like.

I agree with you there. The problem is that the only other "good" headphones I've listened to were the MSR7's (which I didn't like at all). Since I wouldn't have much to compare yours to, I find it safer to just base my opinion off reviews for now.

There was a pair of SRH1540s for R4800 but someone else managed to grab them just before me
