Item Wanted: Any decent mechanical keyboard
Packaging Essential: Nope but preferred
Desired Age: Doesn't matter as long as the keys aren't loose and all work
Location: Pretoria East or Cape Town (Pinelands)
Willing to accept a shipped item: Yes
Ballpark/Budget Amount: 800-1000 neg

Started having to travel again for work, and the Mecer piece of crap I've been given is awful. Need a keyboard for the Cape office. Tenkeyless would be preferable, but not essential.
A coolermaster Storm quickfire takes first place. No RedDragon/Gamedias/Trust please.

Trust is not a new brand, they've been around for decades. Yes they make cheap stuff but they're still a cut above the others because they have been around so long if your concern is just that they're a new company the seemingly make makes cheap crap. I would except their things to last a lot longer than something from Gamdias and perhaps also Redragon.

Then again I don't know of anything suitable they make anyways.

Sorry to derail the post but I had the CM storm quickfire for about 2 years and it was one of the best keyboards. Then recently to save desk space I sold that and got the Gamdias Hermes M3. Maybe its like audiophiles chirping at people who cant make out the difference in audio quality, but honestly there is nothing wrong with that keyboard, in fact I'm very happy I took the leap.

GLW..W?

I had a cm storm quickfire tk too for the exact same reason I want one now, but then they said we aren't traveling any more so I sold it :(
My main thing (and yeah I'm a snob) is that I want actual cherries, not generic knockofs.

Yeah I'm just a snob that would prefer actual cherries to the cheaper knockoffs.
I've tried some of the cheaper brands and I really don't like the way they feel.
Been through quite a few mid range mechanical kbs and I've developed somewhat of a bias.

Fair enough. The biggest issue with knock-offs is that it is not immediately apparent which cherry they are copying so you can very easily end up with a switch you dislike, and some don't even have knock-off alternatives like Blacks or Silvers.

Yep. haven't tried a trust or Gamdias yet but I know RedDragon has horrible switches

I disagree, but the Otemu Purple switches my keyboard used are found on only the Yama so not something you will be able to try, the rest may well be garbage. Gamdias uses more much more obvious knock-off switches that feel like their Cherry counterparts, but probably don't last quite as well. No clue about Trust.
