Hey everyone!

I'm looking for cheap colocation for my homelab backup server (preferably in Cape Town). All the options I find are for business use and the prices are insane. I don't need uncontended bandwidth or features like that, I just need a basic internet connection so that my essential services and nightly backups can run. Do any of you know of any providers that have reasonable offerings?

I think Hetzner offers it last I looked a few years back, the prices were decent

Hi Do you really need colocation or do you just need space to do the backups?

This.

Do you really need to host your own server or do you just need some space?

Backblaze it very cheap. And then you just just run rsyncrclone to sync with Backblaze.
I do it for work and it is like $10 for two terabytes.

Sure you pay to download ($20 for 2TB), but this is for backup right. I don't mind paying if it is an emergency.

Google Drive is also fairly cheap at around R150 for 2tb online storage.
I use this for my work files to have it sync between pc and laptop, while also having a cloud backup solution in case shit hits the fan.

I use Alpha VPS as it is for backup I use a high storage VPS server I think it's R200 a month for 2Tb 4 core, 2gigs of ram. As most of my stuff is virtualized in proxmox I have got a proxmox backup server on there with incremental backups. Also sync a couple of other things to it.

Checkout B2 from Backblaze Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage

I am looking for some rack space. I have VPS's where I need to, shoutout to Absolute Hosting, they're great.
For my main backups and some essential services I would love for it to be hosted in a datacenter somewhere. I have all the hardware, I just need a few U's and networking.
