Howzit guys, I drive an old Hyundai i20 2011 and I want a cheap option to add Bluetooth functionality to the radio temporarily, while I save up to get a decent double din to replace the factory radio.

I've tried those cheap dongle thingies that you get at paki shops that plugs into the lighter port, a slightly better one from hifi Corp, an small aux input one that you charge via micro usb.. But they've all kakked within a week or 2 of use or the audio quality was up to shit.

Anyone have a sub R1k solution?

Thanks,

AJ

I use this one in my car (2006 Polo - no BT no aux).

Quality isn't great and finding a quiet radio frequency is surprisingly difficult. However, it's lasted 3 years and I used it for calls and music every day pre-covid.

I also have a Gizzu and the quality is pretty good. Check out Geewiz for comparative pricing and more models, the one I have isn't listed any more on Takealot and there are no wires. It basically is plugged into your cigarette lighter and is a stubby thing that pops out of the lighter socket. I had one like Turbo posted, but didn't like the wires all over.

I use this too. Other than it resetting itself every now and again (might just be a contact issue or my car) and the microphone being fairly useless the audio quality is there which is the reason I bought it.

Buy a cheap bluetooth speaker, rip it apart, splice it in to your current car radio. Multimeter and a bit of soldering is all that's needed. It works really well. Only other additional thing might be a cheap buck converter if you can't find a 5v source. I tried those AM/FM Transmitters ages ago and they were absolutely horrible quality. Perhaps the newer ones are much better though.

I have been down this route before. Nothing worked well enough, not that I am an audiophile, but pretty close. Ended up just getting a BT Radio eventually. The best FM transmitter I ever had was the built-in one from a nokia n91.

I use one that is quite similar to the above except mine is a MIUI and not a Ugreen. Although I have used other Ugreen products in the past and they are not bad. You'll also need your own lighter plug charger. Mine is still going strong 3.5 years later, hopefully the Ugreen is also up to the task.
