Hi

I'm currently running an ancient GTX 560 TI which has two DVI outputs. Due to distance and the fact I have stuck my PC in a rack, I have two x 5m DVI cables from my PC to my two wall-mount monitors.

I've since ordered an RX 570 8GB which only has one DVI connector (albeit with the Dual-Link specification) and am now trying to figure out what impact this is going to have and how I need to change my setup.

Should I maybe just keep the current primary monitor plugged into the single DVI port on the card and then buy an HDMI to DVI converter plug for the second monitor - will that work?

Thanks y'all!

Regards,
Peter

Do your monitors only have DVI connections at the back?

If so, the only way is to get a HDMI to DVI connector 🤷‍♂️

You cannot split a single DVI port to two monitors. I have seen splitters on video cards (like the Dell I am on now), but it's not connected to a DVI (though it looks roughly the same size), but another style of connector to two DVI's. I do recall seeing a splitter from a DVI to two DVI's but it wasn't used for two monitors but for a monitor which required two DVI inputs.

R58 on Takealot for that adaptor is going to be the cheapest way I think.

I would personally go displayport to DVI as I think the connector is far more robust, but those are more expensive from what I've seen.

@Cookie Yes - only DVI. Well, DVI and VGA, but the VGA input option doesn't really help.
@rinners Thanks, that's what I was looking at. I just hope the GPU is happy with DVI for one monitor and HDMI for the second.

If you are close to the Centurion/Boksburg areas, Have a look at HDCabling. Mostly china imports but work well. +1

Just remember there are different types of DVI cables. Which can be a pain!!!

I think the RX570 will be DVI-D Dual link. So it wont have those 4 little pins
So the monitor that is going DVI - GPU DVI just double check your cable will fit into the GPU

Hi

Thanks again. I'll check my existing DVI cables when my card arrives. I ended up ordering this..

.. on the basis it should be a little more sturdy than the earlier one. I'd rather do this because then it means I can still use my existing DVI cable.

Thanks again!

If i knew this a year ago it would have saved me a lot of hassle after replacing all the screens in the call center i work at...
