Hallo,
Why is the website so resource intensive? I am on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) and using Google Chrome Version 80.0.3987.132 (Official Build) (64-bit). When I open carbonite.co.za, I can see in the Google Chrome Task Manager that the website uses a lot of CPU, at times even above 70%.

Same happens in Incognito Mode.

Any ideas?
I have uBlock Origin but it is disabled for carbonite.co.za and then I also have LastPass.

Thank you.

What does your system task manager say, how much does Carbonite use when open? Carbonite definitely doesn't take up that much resources, so either the Chrome task manager is inaccurate, or those funky websites you've been browsing has installed add-ons on your browser that's causing some, uhm, "resource usage".

Chrome is resource intensive by itself

Try test it with other browsers as well

Also make sure you disable Chrome's Software Reporter, it is a piece of hogshit that re-enables itself after any update. All updates are background by default and never re-requestes consent, it automatically opts you in for telemetry.

The folder is: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\SwReporter
Go to folder properties and remove ALL rights from the folder and then disable inheritance under advanced.

It uses over 50% of the CPU.
No other add-ons installed.
It is only carbonite.

On Safari it does load fine and very responsive, must be something on Chrome then.

I am on a Mac but will have a look at the Software Reporter.

Thank you all.
