Carbon exhaust tip repair?

Howsit gents!

I put my bike down last year, and the exhaust took a proper beating.

If you know of anyone who could fabricate/repair the fubar parts, please let me know!

BMW quoted me R17k for a new slip on. A new stealth exhaust (slip on + decat/midpipe) is R5200.00

I would like to keep the Akro exhaust, but I cannot justify spending R17k on a slip on. It does not need to be carbon, I'm sure that tip can be fabricated with allu?

Maybe check with Power Pipes or TMSS exhausts if they are able to assist you. Their fabrication work is top notch on cars.

I asked a very simple and quite a valid question.

And now you want to throw more money after it and still not have insurance. It just doesn’t make sense.

Nothing poes about it.

If you told me it’s a stunt bike and hence no insurance I could maybe make sense of it, but then at the same time you surely wouldn’t be looking to repair it and rather just leave it as is.

So yes I do honestly expect you to answer me. Especially since I have absolutely no idea where this hostile attitude comes from all of a sudden when we’ve always gotten along quite amicably.

We replaced my wifes Yoshi Rs55 with the Stealth pipe on her MT09 and its really nice. Different sound (not bad at all) and the build quality is very good. Just put the stealth on and be happy.

Fair enough, sorry for the hostile attitude. I interpreted your post wrong and was in a bad mood yesterday. The 'WANT' in caps tilted me for some reason, my bad dude. I was the pews.

I got the bike for an absolute steal and well under retail, and my idea is to turn it into a track bike eventually. The time I had the bike, the money I saved (actually saved, so I have ching to repair the bike) by not paying insurance is already worth half of what I paid for the bike. I have 3rd party insurance if I pummel into a Porsche though.

The exhaust looks nasty, and I'm looking at options to make it at least look decent, without having to lose the Akro. I can't justify the 17k premium on a bike I thrash around. That being said, I can't find a place that would do a decent job without buying the original akro parts. More hassle than it's worth.

Stealth exhausts have some decent options at much better prices. So RiP Akro.

Not a bad optoin but there is can damage too.
Tip +-R1600 for tip ex VAT and shipping so if you're lucky R2400 and then repairing the can might be a bit too if you decide to do it.

New stealth is 5/6K new.

Fair enough, just from the photos the damage to the can itself looks like you can relatively easily straighten it out with some patience, just so it matches the dimensions of the tip again.
Tip only seems to screw in at the top and bottom anyway, so the sides should in theory be flexible, at least somewhat.

Then again, based on the overall damages that can is quite sturdy so might need more than a screw driver to reform 🤷‍♂️

9/10 times when folks try and repair something like this, it ends up being replaced a few weeks later because it looks shit.
