Car starting to moan and groan. What's that sound?

That is not lifters, those engines do not get lifter problems by themselves. That is the injectors making the ticking noise.
There is a noise inside your bell housing though.
If you are stressed about the lifters, change the oil to Shell Rimula RX4.

And doing the lifters as DIY I would not recommend. Could end up with an oil leak if you do not know how to seal Opel cam box engine.

Wowser 15w-40 oil is not cheap! Seems around the R500 mark for a 5litre.

Ye I do t think I should attempt the lifter replacement. Not sure I have all the correct tools

My oil and filter should have been replaced at last years service though

Uploaded a video to the same googledrive. Car – Google Drive

Took the oil cap off to check if the oil is splashing around. There were a few drops splashing out.

The Noise seems to be coming from the back section of the engine. Marked it in the pics

That is where the injectors are so probably is that.

Honestly never heard injectors making a noise like that, does the oil light go on when you put ignition on, does it go out once the car starts (couple of secs to go out sometimes) lifters and rocker arms would definitely have to be checked if the oil light goes off as it should, you say it's had an oil change a year ago, how many km's have been done in that year, oil degrades over time whether the motor runs a lot or not, one example is oxidation, I do know that tappet/ valve cover will definitely have to come off to check it, get a place that'll do a quick check for you, heck, you could even take the tappet cover off yourself and do a visual inspection, take some picks (of camshaft and rockers) and upload, let us have a look, if the rocker arms are worn, the lifters can't compensate for the gap therefore having the continuous loud ticking, could even be a couple lifters that failed but they generally don't fail all together, normally 1 or 2 will fail, leaving the rest fine.

Also, if you don't have a stethoscope you could use a broom or mop (wooden stick) put one part to your ear (press it against your ear and cover your ear with same hand) and the end of it (top round part) push it gently against each injector whilst the car idles, if the noise is coming from there, it'll definitely be amplified and you'll be able to pinpoint it, then do it on the tappet cover aswell, where the sound is the loudest, that's where the noise is coming from...that's a quick hack I saw one guy do years ago and it definitely works to pinpoint noise on a engine, go over the entire tappet cover with the broom, where you think the lifters are, so basically 8 spots as it's a 8 valve motor, keep us posted and goodluck.

If you're gonna attempt to remove the tappet cover to take pics, everything in blue has to come off, those 2 pipes and those torx bolts on the cover, they look like T20, T25 or T30 not sure though

The car doesn't travel long distance much at all, so mileage is very low. Mostly short town driving which i'm sure is very bad for the car as it doesn't get much time to heat up and perform optimally.

The oil light goes out as the car starts up as normal. No warning lights displayed either

Cool I will open the cover and check it out. Will have to be over the weekend.

Would driving the car once a day for 5-10min be detrimental to its health in the current state?

Thanks for all the info!

I wouldn't advise it, unless it's an emergency, I can only speak for myself and I would risk it, that's only because if it does break I fix it myself lol.

Having a separate issue on the previously mentioned FIAT PANDA 05

There was an oil leak. Mechanic said it was leaking from the SUMP. So they resealed the SUMP.
1 week later, still a leak but seems like its leaking more now!
Checked the oil level with the dipstick and the oil mark is MUCH higher than the MAX oil line. WTF

Does that mean they put to much oil in the car?

Either that or they put the wrong dipstick in it, most likely too much oil though.

Where the car parks, where does the oil lay on the ground, on the front driver side, middle or closer to the passenger side front when you move the car, asking cause if it's still leaking, it just might be the oil seals (front or rear) that's causing the leak, that's if the sump was sealed properly.

Hmmmmmm, maybe someone replaced the dipstick at one point and it goes in to far.

Shouldn't a mechanic know how much oil to put in......

To much oil sounds bad

Seems more middle. But its not one little drop patch, its quite a bit, more than I would expect form a slow leak

Yip, should know the specs and how much oil the engine takes, small 4 cylinders typically takes about 4/4.5L oil

Online im finding 3.5L. SO maybe they put 4.5L

Should I maybe drain some oil

Ja, that's bad, need to be careful, too much oil will also cause damage, i think they might've overfilled knowing the leak wasn't properly repaired which when I say it sounds ridiculous for someone to do but I've seen and heard things from dealerships that would drop your jaw to the ground.

Replace the oil with shell Rimula RX4 and new filter.

I was worried about this as well......

But why after 5 years of driving the car the injector noise all of a sudden started sounding different? Louder
Its all in your mind, the injectors on that opel is loud. There is no lifter noise or oil pressure problem.
Had a listen to the vid till the end, there is one lifter than is slightly noise when you rev it.
Change the oil as I suggested :)

This is what I am hoping, but seriously it has gotten louder than normal. I can hear it now from inside my car with all the windows up.

The exhaust is ridiculously loud in general as well, can hear the thing coming from 2 blocks away. Always been like that and iv noticed the same on others that are the same model

Well the worst that can happen to that engine is nothing lol.
The lifters can get REALLY loud before anything goes wrong.
Ive rebuilt one that had no oil, the rockers were eaten out 1mm.
Having engine problems at your mileage is unheard of on your model.
@g0l1athrulz Help die ou reg asb :p

Fiat Panda 05. 1.2 takes 2.8L the 1.4 takes 2.9L the 1.3 diesel takes 2.8/3.0 depending on model.
Took the panda back in. The guy that worked on my car wasn't there but, spoke to someone else and he checked the oil level and confirmed there was to much oil in the car.
He put it up on the lift and we checked underneath and there is a shit load of oil all over the place. Definitely STILL leaking.

HE said if I empty some oil now then I will just loose oil while I am driving and will have to top up. He told me to leave it there so they can clean the engine again and see where the leak is coming from. FFS

1) Is it very difficult to determine where the leak is coming form first time around?
2) Why the F would they fill with to much oil, did they know it was still leaking and tried to get away with it
3) Are they mysteriously going to find another location of the leak? It wasn't leaking this much before I took it to them....
