Car starting to moan and groan. What's that sound?

I am a little worried that they are going to do something to the clutch to make it unstable so that they have to end up replacing it. Maybe I should fix the oil leak, sell the car and buy something else.

@franco1s Any idea of how much the car would be worth (how much would you try and sell it for) after the oil leak is fixed?

Fiat Panda 2005 black (Not sure if its the 1.2)
130,000km somewhere around there
4 new tyres
Spare wheel
Front loader (original not available)
Aftermarket alarm installed
Spare key synced
FOB opens doors but is not synced to start car
Paint is a bit rough, light scratches here and there, roof paint has faded
Clutch is squeaking (not sure if that warrants a whole clutch kit change though)

Unfortunately not a clue, I'm not good at pricing, my brother usually does that, but you can check by any dealer, they have those books that give market related pricing.

DAMNIT!

The boss phoned me now.....

So apparently that guy that phoned earlier wasn't supposed to phone me at all and he apologised. Apparently the other guy got kakked out by the boss.
Seems like they are having internal issues

1)Boss says there is nothing wrong with the clutch. yes it is old but its still got some time left on it so it doesn't need to be replaced.

2) The seal does need to be replaced. he said R500 BUT he is charging me for removing the gear box and reinstalling it because it is a big job. R2000!!!!!!

When he original phoned to ask if he could remove the gear box he said if I dont find a leak ill reinstall the gearbox at no charge. He said nothing about how much it is going to cost if he does find a leak.

So now he has found the leak and wants to charge R1000 for taking it out and R1000 for putting it back.... SIES!

Damn, that's not right, insist on the original price quoted, that's their issue, if I had time on my hands I'd gladly help you out but I'm so limited between being on the road or under a car.

Also, what of the old bill, where the sump was sealed and the leak remained, can't that be deducted from the bill as the leak wasn't repaired by sealing the sump.

I did argue this, he said the SUMP was also leaking in the beginning and now it isn't. So they did fix that 🤷‍♂️

So I spoke to him again now and he again apologised for everything and said he will do it for R2000 in total.
I told him this has been a bad experience form the beginning and I don't feel comfortable bringing any of my cars back here again. I told him if he does it for R1500 Ill feel better about the experience. He agreed

1500 still ok to do a job like that but in all honesty it's left me with a bad taste in my mouth and it's not even my car, give a price, customer accepts quote to do the job, if while stripping down there's something else, contact customer immediately and have them come have a look at whatever else you may have discovered that's wrong and advise accordingly.

Should go for around 30 - 45 k

First Sound Lifters, The louder rattle noise could be a simple cover that is loose of bigger problems related to clutch or pressure plate. I would get it on a lift and check all the bolts and move into the engine then.

@Skalabala do you see what I see or am I imagining things, by the blue arrow, seems to be a crack in the sump, also do those bolts look like they've been removed recently? Those sump bolts from what we can see in the pic, might be my imagination but it doesn't look like they've been removed recently, I might be wrong though.

How long after the sump reseal was the car back by them?

Um, a few days after it was back I noticed the leak on the floor by my parking. So I had it about a week because i needed to use it and then took it back

Just waiting on what skalabala thinks, that to me looks suspicious but I might be way off the mark about those bolts that looks to be untouched in a while.

That crack you see is the corner of the nut, as you can see its a nut on a stud.
Looking at the threads I am not sure if that sump was of.

All the oil on the top left of pic? Something else leaked from the top?
My thoughts as well, the spacer plate looks like it seen more oil than the bell housing of the gearbox, where they report the oil is leaking, going by the pics alone, the seal leaks but the amount reported by cookie?
If it's that huge amount, that gearbox should've had more oil in the bell housing, at least that's my thought on it, also, the leak shows only at the bottom of the bell housing, surely as the car was driven, the back part (standing at the driver side fender, the left side of the housing) should have oil splatter at the very least?

Well maybe I over exaggerated a little 😅 I wouldn't say it was gushing, but it was definitely leaking a lot more than it was before.

Before there was a little drop dropping off the bottom of the engine, after there was a large patch on the bottom of the engine with quicker drops

[emoji23] lol yeah, by this explanation, definitely could be just the seal then, still find the spacer plate top left being full of oil weird though.

I agree. From the pic it does not look like it has been removed recently

Here is a close up photo of those 2 SUMP nuts

Strange that the leak was more promenant after the SUMP was sealed. Maybe it stopped coming out the sump and started leaking MORE from the rear seal

Top pic a bit blurry but in that one it does look like that nut was removed.

They overfilled the motor right, could be the seal was leaking and with them overfilling it made the seal leak more noticeable as there's more oil in the sump and possibly laying level or above the seal, could even be more oil means more sloshing around in the sump and onto the leaking seal.

Hmmm ye. Well I should get it back today. When I see him Im going to make sure I have a guarantee and he must sort it out free of charge if it is still leaking after this

By the way, the clutch is squeaking quite a bit after some use, im assuming it will give in one day as well. Can I not grease it or something along those lines to help with the squeak?
