Hi everyone

I have been experiencing an issue with my 2009 Chevrolet Aveo 1.6 automatic.
When driving after a while I notice the following issues:
The car revs high when in neutral. When in drive revs are 1000 but when moved in neutral moves up to 2000
When driving on the highway and accelerating at normal speeds and the pedal is kept pushed in halfway (constant acceleration) the revs seems to slip. The car revs to 4/5000 rpm then drops to 3000 then moves back up to 5000 and then drops to 3000 and the gear doesn't change. Have to remove foot from accelerator or push full in for the gear to change to 4th.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I have taken it to mechanics and they suggesting it could be the throttle body, gearbox needs service, an issue with transmission. I've been getting different reasoning. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

I would check the gear oil level to see if full or over full ,check for leaks and also smell if it smells burnt, it might just need a service and adjustment of the bands. Don`t leave to long or you could and up with burnt bands and clutches = overhaul.(BUCKS)

How's your AT fluid? It shouldn't affect revs in neutral, but is a possible symptom (old or low) for the slipping you're getting while in gear.

I had the similar issue with my Opel Corsa a few years back (I saw a few years but like 6 or so years). It's a known issue with the manufacturer. I sent the car to the dealer and they had it repaired.

My slip was mainly on idle though. It would just rev high for no reason.

Fluid levels are normal. The fluid isn't burnt or smells. Maybe the gearbox does need to just be serviced

AT fluid level and colour is normal from the dip stick.

Thank you. are you (or anyone) able to recommend any reliable and reasonable place to have it serviced at? In the Johannesburg area
I would look at gearbox specialists like Gearmax, Gearbox Center, but google and see reviews of company ,most agents make use of them as well for diffs and gearboxes. Sorry i`m in P.M.Burg KZN.
