Hi, I'm a new member here and I thought there's no better site to ask this question in other than a website where PayPal trades happen.

I am an Algerian currently stuck in South Africa and have control over a South African PayPal linked with FNB (my girlfriend's). I use it with freelance (Completely legal 3D works and designs), the money that I get in it, I send to my Algerian PayPal. But apparently, FNB doesn't allow any money to be sent to other PayPal accounts. The reason why I'm sending it in my Algerian PayPal, is to be able to withdraw it there when I go back. I can't send freelance money into it directly without an Intermediate because the websites I get payed from charge so much for Algerian PayPal.

My question is, is what I'm doing so illegal to the point where I could face (me or my girlfriend) jail time? Or is FNB terminating the current PayPal account the worst that could happen?
My second question is to the PayPal traders, do you have any tips and tricks to stay low and not get spotted by FNB or PayPal? I usually send 200~300 dollars every 3 or 4 days.

Any responses are appreciated, thanks!

You should be able to send money straight through Paypal interface, the FNB portion is to withdraw into a SA bank account.
  1. Log into PayPal directly not though FNB
  2. Send money to your other account as per usual.
  3. Then on that side, you would need to withdraw which would be through a different bank in Algeria
  4. Only the withdraw from Algeria as an example to SA would need to be withdrawn through FNB

I think the answer could be yes, jail time is a option due to tax implications. All foreign money entering the country is taken note of by SARS and I think the reserve bank too.

If you receive money into the local PayPal then you have to withdraw it here. You cannot transfer it at all, this is due to regulatory requirements.

If you want it in your Algeria linked PayPal then invoice some of your customers using that PayPal account instead.

The only other option would be to let your customers pay into your bank account and completely avoid PayPal.
