Hi all,
I was hoping to start a little discussion on every Vega 64 owner and sharing their under volt / overclock achievements for people who want to OC their cards but don't know what they can achieve with a good silicon lottery.
There are PLENTY of YouTube videos and forums and posts of people achieving certain clock speeds and volts to gain the best results from their Vega 64 card, but this need some searching. Some people even running shoulder to shoulder with 1080 ti's with what they have achieved, but this is for water-cooled Vega's.

My question is, what could YOU achieve and if you are willing to share your under volt / overclock settings with other people, please post them.

I have the ASUS STRIX Vega 64 8gb OC.
I myself tried for weeks and I could only go as high as per below:
P6: 1650Hz
P7: 1727Hz
Memmory: 1070Hz (anything higher and I start getting artifacts)
Temps reached about 62 degress before my fans ran 100% as per my custom fan curve and never really exceeded 65 degrees at full load.
If I recall correctly, my power consumption on full load was about 270-280W.

The best most stable clock I could achieve was 1550Hz only going up or down by 50Hz when scenery changes at a power usage of 220W with temps not exceeding 55 degrees.

I cannot recall the voltages for all these settings as I went back to stock OC and this was about 6-8 months ago, but I might still have it somewhere on my HDD. These settings I achieved from weeks of trying to perfect many settings and gone through crashes with different benchmark software programs and certain games.

I think it will be interesting to see what settings some of the other guys could achievements whether it's air cooled or water cooled.
 
Got a gigabyte vega 64 recently.

Undervolted heavily to bring down power draw and keep it cool. On stock profiles it reached 80-90c with an OPEN box.


Current clocks:

1560mhz on p6 (1000mV)
1650mhz on p7 (1020mV)

HBM2 on 990mhz (980mV)

Currently drawing +-200-220w on full tilt @ 70c (1800rpm fan speed)

Still manages stable clocks of about 1560mhz
 
And what real world difference has it made to gaming from stock benchmarks? Massive increase in FPS?
I cannot recall of hand, but I gained good FPS. I could see FPS improvement especially because of the memory clock increase and GPU speed obviously added to the achievement. My best in Unigen Heaven on 1080 Extreme with full settings was 5063 score with 201 FPS. Min was 46.1 FPS and max was 394.3 FPS. On stock OC that score is like 4250 if I recall correct. I do not have any record of my Firestrike score on hand.

Did you do a custom fan curve?
I found that helps me a lot to sustain temps to never reach above 62degrees on hot days with my box closed.

Yup its custom, can't recall the exact curve but it tops out at about 2300rpm @ 73c I think.

Dot 1 30C@11%
Dot 2 50C@12%
Dot 3 65C@40%
Dot4 70C @50%
Dot 5 75C@65%

Mind sharing yours? The gigabyte cooler seems very lackluster.

Thats a bit low rpms, mine will run hot with that low rpms. I have set my curve to run at 80% once it reaches 60 degrees and 100% at 70 degrees. The curve will provide a gradual increase as temps go higher than 60 degrees but it never exceeds 62 degrees. Not sure if Strix has a higher rpm for their fan speed compared to other air coolers, but mine can run up to I think 3800rpms @ full speed. I don't mind the noise as I play with earphones.

I'm the opposite, I prefer my fans running at about 1800-1900 even with earphones. The gigabytes fans get LOUD at about 2300rpm.

So I suppose I found the right balance between heat and noise for my preference.

Definitely balanced, I used to also run in the low 70 with about 2500 - 2800 rpm, but then I had to bump it up as I was overclocking for a few weeks to see what the card can achieve and I had to go full speed at 70 or else that card can get a bit on the cooking side.
Ever since I reverted back to stock OC for summer weather I still keep the custom fan so that my card does not exceed 65 degrees. I just like to have it running a bit cooler than normal, but yeah even Asus can make your card sounds like your box wants to take off.

You might not necessarily gain a lot more FPS but your minimum average frame-rate drastically changes.

The Vegas cards have a big discrepancy between its average and minimum FPS and the under-volt solves this.
 
Vega 64 LC. Default Clock states with undervolt. Clocks while gaming are between 1680 and 1705. +50 Power limit. Load Temps 55c-60c

P6 1668 - 1100mv
P7 1750 - 1125mv

HBM - 1125MHz

Agreed, it's mainly to maintain stable good clocks with less power consumption. The Vega 64 is a very underrated card and what makes this card still a great card to have in 2020 is both the high maximum memory bandwidth and texture rate compared to cards like the 1080. Yes it might only have lower clock speeds, but I get good FPS on ultra settings at 1440p compared to some guys with their GTX 1080's. With 4K this card is still up there. But everyone to their own I guess...LOL
 
Cant believe I didn't find this thread sooner.

I have Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro +
P7 1632mhz 1100mv translates to 1570mhz during a 100% load and about 1590 to 1620 during a load less than 70%
HBM 1075mhz 1050mv runs at 1075mhz all the time independent of load.

When it come to performance the core clock makes very little difference but the HBM is where its at . With these clocks I get around 10 to 15 frames more than stock consistently. I repasted the card with Kryonaut and during gaming temps reach a peak of about 60 to 65 on the core , 65 to 70 on the HMB and 75 hotpspot. All that with 50% to70% fan speed. If the ambient is cool then the fans don't go over 50% but if its hot like 25 degrees + that fan sits at 70% all the time during a 100% gpu load.
 
Pretty impressive @Ebrahim Ali , and I think that Kryonaut also adds very well to your performance achievement. Those are some great temps relating to the fan speeds. I do have to say that when I ran at a very cool ambient room temp, I also never went above 62 degrees on about 70-80% fan speed running on factory OC. The hotspot is normally about 20 degrees more than the Core temp, having them Kryo on there is definitely make the gap smaller from your results you got.

I was thinking of doing a repaste soon before I sold it to get that Kryonaut temps, definitely worth it if you don't have the R5K+ for a decent waterblock. Mostly guys that are running waterblocks can up their HBM to 1100Hz, some even do 1150Hz and pushes the P7 to 2100Hz as I saw this on some videos and they do about 50 degrees on the core with those if I remember correctly. Craziness I tell you but I bet a lot of fun...LOL
 
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone with the Sapphire Nitro + has repasted it other than me. When it came time to remount the cooler I didnt tighten up the screws all the way for fear of cracking the die. Has anyone had a bad experiencing tightening up the mounting bracket all the way. I dont know if the screws are tightened all the way from the factory.

Ok so i decided to throw caution to the wind and tightend up the screws on the bracket.GPU is fine and I dropped 3 degrees
 
Anybody having Adrenaline software reset your profiles every time you shutdown/startup?
It held fine before I moved to a new system but now it just never saves it -_-
 
No luck, had fast boot disabled, but not fast startup.
 
Seems like it is MSI Afterburner holding the profiles and overriding everything, but nothing is detected anywhere else, OverdrivenTool + Adrenaline both read stock clocks on startup of system, but MSI has it set there so I'm guessing the only thing to really try is delete it and see what comes of a restart.
 
Afterburner messed with my profiles too, specifically my fan curves. Ended up uninstalling and just using OverdrivenTool.
 
Yeah only thing is I use it heavily to monitor everything in-game. So I don't want to get rid of it, just don't understand why it is overriding everything.
 
I have a sapphire Vega 64 LC but have almost no clue what you okes are on about.

Someone care to enlighten me a bit on how to do this and what the P6 and P7 is.

Only thing I do with mine is set it to turbo mode in the AMD software.

Will I really gain anything in gaming if I undervolt/overclock?
 
It's the amount of voltage your putting into the core as well as the target (not actual) frequency you want to attain.

You gain a decent amount of power saving whilst losing a small amount of performance. basically just lowering temps while attaining no perceivable performance drop in most scenario's.

And it is fun.
