I found a 2012 Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 Q4 Distinctive Q-tronic with under 80k mileage.

Now I want it...

I'd appreciate any positive feedback

Pros vs Cons, Things to look out, for anything, Reasons why this is better than hatchback alternatives (see bottom).

I plan to go check it out in person on Tuesday so I'm looking for what questions to ask etc.

Thanks in advance
Tri

Oh and btw it's not on a whim or an impulse buy I was looking to get (or rather I was told to get ) an automatic car with low mileage, recent year and low fuel economy essentially a hatchback and thus similar stuff to EnderZ's thread then I saw this Alfa...

159 is a stunning car!
But I wouldn’t buy it, coz Alfa.

I’m a huge Alfa/Fiat fan btw

As a previous Alfa owner, my 2c... Run, run faaaar away.

They are beautiful, plush and stylish but when they break (and it will) you will be on your knees as the dealerships.

Part delays are insane, part prices arnt terrible but still premium but I found dealership service is useless.

After 80k worth of repairs (4 Months of their part failures) and I was told they can't repair it and if they continue I would fit the additional bill.. Yes I paid 80k and after the parts failed before it even left their workshop they wanted me to pay more for the same parts. Unbelievable. And yes eventually it was fixed and I complained at the highest level till it was complete at the initial quoted price.

Look, if you want a project, it’s an amazing car.

I wouldn’t own it to take it to a dealer, that’s just going to set you back millions. I’d own it to fix it myself.

I’d buy it and a daily driver, the problem is money and space.

You’d need to spend money on obvious things like tyres and oil, but also on special parts like an alternator or headlights.

In America, parts are cheap and labour is expensive. Here, both parts and labour are expensive.

It’s why Hoovie and Tarvarsh can run their channels with their labour fixing most of the problems.

I love the 159. It’s gorgeous. Astonishing. Just be aware that you need to have a serious amount of time and money to get it running.

Theres good reason that I am a great mechanic :p

Great car. Been driving alfas almost all my life. From juniors to newer ones. Their is mechanics and workshops that do deliver decent work and have the knowledge at a price but still cheaper tgat agents. But also as per Shakalala it is the reason why I am also n great mechanic lol. Few things in life live up to the busso V6, althought I believe the 159 has a Chrysler derived V6? But still very nice car.

Ive got a 159, but the 2.2 petrol version, not the quickest but still alot of go for a 4 cyl, cant speak for the v6 variant as its obviously a completely different motor, but ive had very few major issues with the car, some electrical gremlins here and there but nothing an hour and some love couldnt take care of, as alfas go i believe theyre some of the more reliable ones, but that being said, i actually have little to no knowledge of the busso motor in the v6
