Buying advice - preowned BMW 335i as my next daily

Nah bro I'm open to discussion as i would like to see everyones experiences and see pros and cons, it may not even be a bmw next year it could even be something cheaper like a 350z but the advice everyone has given me is more valuable then searching online and seeing a couple rich americans tell me there side of things - as south africans we are not blessed with coupons and funding from the government if we want something we have to work to the bone to get it no freebies or handouts and i can tell you right now i worked to the bone with terrible hours no weekends just for that deposit i saved

Good for you work hard. But use that hard worked deposit wisely. The car will lose value quickly, so that hard worked deposit will be wasted. The quicker you get into paying for property, the better your sports car will come.

I wish I knew this sooner.

But if you ask me if I should buy a second hand sports car or a brand new affordable car. I'll take the affordable car any day with warranty and less worry of it being a money pit.

And these days ladies dnt get impressed by 335is 😂😂. Guys are rolling with Lambos and Ferraris at gym and they look like they just started shaving.

Hello, recent m235i owner here. (n55 ftw) I traded in a sensible daily and a sports car(350z) for this. So I originally went the sensible daily route and fun sports car for the weekends because it made the most financial sense at the time and I stand by it. At the end of the day, I can still get to work then on weekends enjoy the sportscar. With work from home and more financial stability I can afford a newer n55 beemer easily and worst case if it has to stand in my garage for 2 months due to repair bills I don't really care.

So if you can afford to keep 2 cars, an i20 and a 350z will be plenty to keep you amused. If you cannot that is350 is an underrated comfortable fast cruiser that I would do.

That said my beemer is superior to the 350z in all areas except the steering feel but the 350z is 80% of the way there so just from a learning perspective it's still a fantastically fun car.

You can also have a look at the F30 330D's. Have mine for 3 years now and could not be happier. Downpipe and stage 2 software took it up to 230KW and 760nm. A LOT of fun for those spirited drives and super fuel efficient if you're driving like a sane human being.

My fuel consumption urban is 14-15km/L average if I'm adhering to the speed limits. It gets down to 12km/L if I'm giving it the beans most of the time, which is still very good in my opinion. Open road I average around 20km/L.

The N57 engines are quite bulletproof. I've had no maintenance on the car yet. Just the routine services, with an additional oil service every 7500km. It just keeps going if you care for it.

This is something that astounded me when I first started looking into why people like BMW so much, the economy and power that you get from these engines to me is something I haven't seen any other car manufacturer do.

Just sold my M135i, the N55 motors are solid, but your charge pipe WILL eventually blow, and thats a mission to fix, at around 110K kms the fuel pumps do tend to go on BMW's.

But, these BMW's are super fun, not as soulful as a Renault Megane RS, but they're really fast and sound good too. If you've got the cash then why not.

Buy A 330D F30, stage 2 downpipe lots of fun, lots of torque and engine just keeps going.

Yes the diesel stinks , the smell.

But its tough and just keeps on pulling without issues.

Did i forget to mention 330D can do 7L/100km, 335I lucky to see 12L/100km
