Building a TrueNAS Core 8-bay mATX ZFS NAS

It's nice but the price is ridiculous. Also the motherboard isn't available locally. Even the HP Proliant Microserver gen 10 or gen 10 plus is not available in SA or if it is it's not cheap.

I remember the gen 7/8 Microserver being <R2000. Now it seems you need to use a second desktop or pay double to triple the price to get something similar.

I'm thinking of getting the Asrock A300w and popping in 2x5TB drives and using it as a little virtualization server aswell.

It's not uncommon for us to order stuff from overseas to get builds done here. It is cool to see small cases like this that can probably fit quite nicely in a network cabinet.

Semi unrelated, I can't believe a cheap as chips CPU like the G4900 can do 21 1080P Plex transcodes.

My behind has been itching to get one and moving my server over to unRAID and Dockering all the things.
