Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right place for this but the DIY makes me think it is.

I've been wanting to build a FM radio jammer for a while now and even have all the components but never got to doing it. Is there someone that feel more comfortable with electronic sketches that's willing to help me out? Preferably in the Bellville/Cape Town area?

Here's a link to the plans I want to follow: FM Radio jammer

Thanks!

You will need a few resistors, a transistor, a few capacitors, an oscillator and a battery

I am on the why? The only reason I can think of is stopping the spread of the Rona...
I meant in the sense of blocking civilian frequencies. The spectrum under ICASA. Not so sure it is legal.

I think this answers it (from the article he is referencing): "Jammer circuits like this are illegal in many countries and you must assemble this circuit on your own responsibility."

Pretty sure it's illegal. One of the machines we used in the Physics department had a tendency to knock certain frequencies in the area and I think they got a visit from 'concerned government officials'

EasyEDA is a nice free tool to design circuits and by the link you posted its a pretty simple circuit. You can get all your parts for a couple of rand, less than R50 excluding the microcontroller you are going to use but that's not even necessary

Thanks for all the inputs. Pretty sure my intended use is legal, sometimes the neighbor's outside radio is left on through the night with no one even there.
As mentioned I have all the components, just need someone who can solder it all in the right spots?

Can you reach it with a hose? Also, your neighbour is a doos.

I built one when I was a teenager, tuned it to the TV frequency. We pranked uncles and grandparents with it, whenever sport was on. Press the button when they sit, let it go when they get near the bunny ears to adjust them. I've had them standing with the antenna in their hands for the entire match.

Of course, when I got found out my hide got tanned for it - Worth it but.

FWIW, jammers are not illegal unless they're connected to a booster antenna where they can interfere with a wide audience.

I want something similar, a EMP that disrupts bluetooth signals for those twats that walk down the street blasting music...
Or the twats in their cars blasting music to the point the entire house shakes at 2am in the morning..

The reasoning behind this build is 100% valid....how may times did you have to tell yourself that @OP
Cant you just ask them to switch it off before you go and build a death ray.

Icasa said in 2012 that the use of wireless signal jammers in South Africa was illegal. “No organisation is allowed to jam cellular signal, and any device which is used to jam signal is illegal,” Icasa said at the time.13 Feb 2015

And your qualifications in radio band regulation is????

This is not smart.

1. If you block the fm frequency you'll go from radio to static. You tryna white noise yourself?

2. A judge will not see it that way. It's still illegal.

Stealing bread cos I'm hungry is understandable but at the end of the day still theft, regardless of my motives.

In my previous house I wished I had one that could detonate in house sound systems. We had neighbors that would blast music for the whole street to hear until 4AM, the worst part was we were the only ones complaining about it apparently.

We have new neighbours up the road that are guilty of this. They thought it a brilliant idea to move into one of the quietest neighbourhoods in Johannesburg and then fuck everything up with their sound system.

It's far enough that it doesn't hurt me, but their direct neighbours must be fuming. People are such dickheads sometimes.

Building a jammer is easy. However if you're caught you face jail time. ICASA love making examples of cases like these to show the taxpayer they're not sleeping most of the time (well they are, but that's not the point).

You can buy an FM exciter off the shelf. With no modulation it will pretty much mute the radio station he is on.
It goes against the grain of the radio regulations in any event, and you can be sued.

Regulations are not so much about transmit power, rather the spirit of all radio regulations worldwide is the equitable usage of the spectrum along with preventing interference. This is in the RAE manual and can be found on SARL's website. sarl.org.za
