Blizzard and Diablo Mobile announcement

worst part about this "diablo mobile game" is that it is just a reskin of a mobile ripoff of diablo anyway...

After watching the developer video and seeing what Chris Metzen contributed to Diablo 3; I can already see the pre-baked plot-twist for Diablo 4 being announced in the boardroom.

Metzen: "In Diablo 4... YOU are actually Diablo!"
Boardroom: *cheers and clapping*
*Wilson high-fives Metzen*
Wilson: "Brilliant work Metzen"
Metzen: "Thanks, now give me my money"
*Mayberry being pulled out of the room by security*
Mayberry: "But we already did that~~~!"
*Cheering and chest bumps continue as Metzen lets other executives stroke his beard*

Your in denial. Just accept it
You seem to be confused,i'm not denying anything

It's sensible businesswise to just shovel development out the door and just hand over graphics to somebody who already cloned your game for mobile, and call it the "next big thing"

Still lipstick on an asian pig

I watched the whole stream , But seeing the mobile game really HURTS , To be honest I really though it's going to Be Diablo 1 & 2 Remastered, But expectations was to dam HIGH.

This might actually be the first mobile game I play

I know nothing of diablo but do know it will be in the same way fortnite is to children :)

Lol, I am sure those investors all have phones too

My take.

I am yet to see any comments about the fact that ActiBlizz owns King games, which is the world leader in mobile gaming. This kind of move has been on their radar for a while now and was called out like two years ago on the D3 forums at first as a joke, but then as an inevitability.

I too have been a huge Diablo supporter since the first game and love the franchise deeply. On one hand I don't blame Blizzard for releasing a mobile game and I think it's silly to rage about it if you don't like it. If you don't approve, don't play it.

On the other hand it's no secret that Blizzard keeps their Diablo fans waiting with baited breath for major releases. Their past cycle of release has proven that. We had to wait 12 years between D2 and D3. They will continue to take that path. Equally so because their other games are simply bigger money makers now. Diablo doesn't so it obviously gets sidelined. Diablo has become one of the few games in their roster that you pay for once off and get to keep for life with free patches and DLC(s) at minimal cost. The Necromancer expansion cost 15 Euros. That's the price of a bag of dog food. The amount of pleasure you get from a game that cost you R600 or R700 pays itself off many, many times over.

But yes, I feel like they're milking it a bit too much given how long it takes other INDEPENDENT developers of similar games like Crate and Grinding Gear Games to release better looking, more complex and expandable games on a regular basis. It just makes them look like clowns.

As for how they treated their fans at Blizzcon, yeah, it was a bit of a low blow. I'm not impressed. They should have just dedicated all of their resources to either remastering D2 or developing D4. It really is time.

My 2c (ZAR)

Cheers :)

Shame..........mean time over at the Torchlight dev's , they don't even have phones.

Yes, this is the logic of every corporate business. I say it's flawed logic because it doesn't always work as planned by shareholders/directors...

Eh Honestly it's too late for them.
They've now announced mobile versions of all their games...

End of an era.

Pretty funny April fools.

This is not the first time we are seeing Diablo being announced for non-PC and console platforms as the original Diablo: Immortal that was announced back in 2018 was originally meant to be a smartphone-exclusive experience. Diablo 4 will, however, be exclusive to Apple Arcade meaning you will be able to play this on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV only. So technically the game is coming to PC, in a way (not really).
