Guys, if anyone ordered from me so far and your name is not on the list, LET ME KNOW. I'm starting to get my numbers together and I want to make sure everything is above board. As an additional point of interest, I'm going to HAVE to request some form of deposit, probably around 50% to cover my initial cost on this. The farmer wants cash in hand for the bucks, obviously to dodge the VAT on it, and if I don't have the cash on hand on shooting, I'm not going to be able to get the biltong out any cheaper (at all), as that 15% will be added on the meat price from start.
So far I have orders for 12kg's (dry) of product, so I'll have to look at 2 impala at the least. If my luck plays right, which I think it will, I might be able to source Impala for cheaper, so the price of the biltong will come down, most probably to around R210 per kg.
Finally, you guys need to keep in mind that you can't utilize 100% of the meat on a buck for biltong. Some cuts, trimmings and off-cuts that's not suitable for biltong has to go into making droëwors. So I'm going to need some dudes to take droëwors as well or we're going to end up wasting
