Tjom is die biltong en droewors lekker ?? Ek sal graag wil bestel maar wil eers weet of dit lekker gaan wees ?

Ek is heavy vol kak as dit by die goed kom koop seker al vir die laaste 9 jaar net by een plek want amal anders kan nie biltong en droewors maak nie.

Well ek like dit. Dis seker maar die risk wat jy moet vat. Al wat ek kan sê is dat ek al my hele lewe lank by die spesifieke slaghuis Bambi's gaan aflaai en hulle gee vir my biltong wat ek baie geniet, so dis maar dit.

Guys, if anyone ordered from me so far and your name is not on the list, LET ME KNOW. I'm starting to get my numbers together and I want to make sure everything is above board. As an additional point of interest, I'm going to HAVE to request some form of deposit, probably around 50% to cover my initial cost on this. The farmer wants cash in hand for the bucks, obviously to dodge the VAT on it, and if I don't have the cash on hand on shooting, I'm not going to be able to get the biltong out any cheaper (at all), as that 15% will be added on the meat price from start.

So far I have orders for 12kg's (dry) of product, so I'll have to look at 2 impala at the least. If my luck plays right, which I think it will, I might be able to source Impala for cheaper, so the price of the biltong will come down, most probably to around R210 per kg.

Finally, you guys need to keep in mind that you can't utilize 100% of the meat on a buck for biltong. Some cuts, trimmings and off-cuts that's not suitable for biltong has to go into making droëwors. So I'm going to need some dudes to take droëwors as well or we're going to end up wasting :p

Guys if you're going to order like to Durbs or CPT, I'd suggest you start a PM chain and invite everyone to it, then you get your orders in together and place it here in one shot. One of you will also have to handle the shipping. I'm not going to package and ship 30 packages to different okes, it's a nightmare (I've done it before, with close to 90 bucks hunted).

Bump! Was at Fleishery yesterday. Their "cheap" biltong is R250 per kg. The healthier (trimmed of fat) option is R360 per kg. Then all their biltong has...funky stuff in the spices, like MSG and other additives.

I guess my price isn't far off, at all.

Assuming your biltong will be good then the price doesn't matter much then eh.

cr@p didn't see this, i'll WhatsApp you now

wasn't sure on your number, sent you a pm now.

@Suberman and myself are keen to order and ship together. If any other CAPETONIANS are interested let us know.

Can we pay extra for them to put MSG in ?

I'm sure I can add some MSG if you wish :p

Since my .30-06 licence won't be in yet, my .303 Brit. Ammo is Sierra 180 Pro Hunters, in front of 40grains of S335, doing around 2,400FPS.

And where in the living hell did you find some S335?

Wont the butchery you are taking them too have one maybe?

They do, but I get it from them wet, not dry. I'm going to dry at home, where I don't have a vacuum packing machine. That raises another point - vacuum packed biltong will be drier than what the others will be like. As such, volume will be the same, but weight will be less (for the same price). I'm going to do this to avoid the mould. Had it in a batch once - don't want it again.

I, uh, "stockpiled"... :D

I'm on my last tin though, after which my .30-06 licence should come through. Then I'll start loading imported powders. I'm done with Somchem.

Anybody keen on splitting a Warthog? Don't have the freezer space...
