Was a tough but good day of racing.
Missed the line up of the 1st heat so ended up starting from pit lane.
Got a 4th place in heat 3 and a 7th over all for the day.

There is this sweet Super Motard that I had a year ago. I regret it a bit that I sold it.
You should go for the KTM 1290 SuperDukeR. ;) It feels more like a super moto than a naked bike but with more oomph than almost anything else

Think there is a bike rally this weekend- montegue side. Lots of bikers on the road.

Ride safe guys

It seems I want to punish myself.

I was soo close to trading my 4 month old 2019 BMW S1000R for a 2018 KTM 1290 SDukeR.
Luckily didn't happen.

Soo New plan, Sell BMW. Don't buy new bike until I can make up my mind.

You need to get your head checked man. I would go with the KTM, no the Bm, no the KTM...ok, I get you.
Wouldn't trade a new bike for an older one though... Especially a KTM (my lil 390 cost me a good couple of g's the past couple of months)
Looking at the 790 but the wife said cash only or no bike.

Yea. I definitely need my head checked, No argument there.
The fact that you still have your 390 must mean you like it enough.
I am literally making my mental state unstable with this KTM thing. Brilliant bike, but logic says I'm stupid and should stay with what I have but my "You have the bike you truly want" heart keeps telling me I'm an idiot for not having a SuperDukeR.

Funnily enough, I have a buddy who wants to trade his MT10 for a SdukeR as well xD

Thing is, I commute with it daily and for it's purpose it's so much fun.
The 790 is top of my list as I'm not ready for a big boy bike like yours or the SDuke. That together with the fact that the 790 comes fully equipped with things that are not standard or even optional on the Japanese rivals and cost about the same RRR.
My 2c worth; keep the BM unless you can get a new Duke.
That thing is a beaut but yes, a bit tamer than the Duke I believe.

The 790 is still a serious machine, I would consider it a big boy bike.

I wouldn't call the BMW "Tamer", I would say a different kind of monster. The KTM is more in your face kind of performance. It hauls ass from the get go and destroys it's rear tyre in the process. It can also do calm without the engine doing much, without mashing gears up and down to get going.

The BMW sings oh soo beautifully when it winds up, It's a different kind of "oooh yea that's good" feeling. It however doesn't like to move if the gear is too high and the revs are too low, gotta mash them gears down to get any sort of urgency going. where as a twin has that engine grunt to not care too much and start accelerating. I assume the singles also have that low down grunt.

I was on a Hyosung GT650 as my "first" proper big bike. Then went to a SV650 then a KTM 990 SuperDukeR and then to the biggest boi, the 1290.
I had a Honda CB1000R inline four with the KTM990 as well so out of the 6 big boi bikes I have now owned, 4 of them were V-twins.

I see where you coming from. That's why I want to sell, Use a spare bike lying around. Either a 500cc inline twin or a 1200 inline twin and save up for a 1290.
I've owned the V2.0, So far the 2020 V3.0 doesn't look like that much of a leap compared to the leap the V2.0 did. So I'll likely look for a 2018/2019 SDukeR.

Went on a breakfast run the other day and mostly had KTM's surrounding us, but as soon as it started drizzling the one S1000R went home and are known to be "poefters" - Bloody Super Duke owners...

From what I've heard and read you are on par with the comparison between the two, just boils down to what tickles your gooch the best?
To me, you can't compare them. Not the same class doesn't matter what reviews you're reading or looking at on the Tubes.

The Hyosung is apparently very good mechanically (based on the suzuki...kawasaki?); was always quite curious.

You've had quite a few iron horses under your saddle it seems.

In general twins seems so much more fun..... All pun intended
Nothing beats a screamer but low down grunt is where it's at. That and comfortable riding position... Again, all pun intended

Yea the Hyosung is based on a older SV650. it was a really great bike. Granted I modified the hell out of it. Put GSXR750 front forks and all that because everything else besides the frames was poor quality and was rusting to hell and gone. Though it was quite sad when I had to sell it for a fraction of what I paid for it, not that I paid much for it to start with. But yea, that's where I learnt brand name matters a bit.

Yap, Both the KTM and BMW are awesome bikes in different ways.

Time to dust off the saddles. Who's been playing good boi and not riding since lockdown started?
I broke my wrist on 19 Jan while on a ride - that's the last time I rode more than 3km. Can't WAIT for Saturday morning

P.S: My bike insurance broker just proactively saved me R6300. He's awesome, gives great rates and deserves a mention here. Let me know if you're interested in a quote and I'll PM details.

Ooh yeah I am also keen, I actually cancelled my bike insurance just as lockdown started.

Howsit gents! Guess I am 'worthy' to post in this thread now.
For those that do not know, I picked this one up earlier this week:
Any and all thoughts, tips and warnings are welcome.
Glad it wasn't the potato cam again! Lookin good man

A general question to others. How is commuting to work on a bike when you have to pitch in a suited-up corporate environment with your laptop bags etc?

I look like this on the bike: :ROFLMAO:

Top box for the win.
Wear proper bike shoes/boots, and a bike jacket. If you want to do it properly you get easy overs to wear over your work pants, but that’s a mission.
Preferably park where people can’t see you change back into Peter Parker and all the kit (except helmet) lives in your top box.

Of course putting a top box on something like an S1000R is a crime which should be punishable by public flogging...
My mate has panniers on his Superduke GT and it still looks good.

I'd also be interested in his details - outsurance is way overpriced

Hey guys! Calling on the usual crowd.

Any recommendations on 'casual' wear bike shoes? I'm really uncomfortable going speed limit with my tekkies. I appreciate all my toes and it would be a shame to lose one.

I stopped at Bike Kings on the way home and the least brandy decent ones were these, but they didn't have my size. They will let me know tomorrow if the supplier has stock:

I wear cruiser boots, Some brands can even pass for for office wear (barely)
