Bikers!?

I'm a bit brain dead at times it seems, my wife even offered to fetch me yesterday.
I have this thing where I ride my bike on principle regardless..... generally to my detriment but fuckit.

"fuckit"
Pretty much the same reason I ride in the rain. Couldn't care enough to wait.

BMW wants R1400 odd for those fancy italian rear brake pads.

Fuck that for a joke. It will get SBS like every bike that came before it for 1/3rd the price when they are actually properly finished.

Still did 30,000km so it's pretty good going.

Next Short Circuit Race at Zwartkops this weekend for those that want to come join!

What was your first bike? Yamaha TZR125
What is your current bike? Suzuki GSXR 1300 Hayabusa
What bike would you buy if money were no object? BMW S1000RR

I hope there was something in between there.

I feel like a bit of a guy that has a chip on his shoulder when I walk into a place with my protective gear. I guess I haven't gotten used to the glares people give you.

I don't often wear my matching jacket pants but when I do it is super warm. :D

:ROFLMAO: Where do I begin!

2003 Honda 954 Fireblade
2004 Suzuki RM125
2005 Honda TRX450R
2006 Suzuki GSXR750 Anniversary
2003 Honda VTR1000SP2
1981 Honda CD200 (Restored)
2013 Kawasaki ZX10
2000 Honda CBR1100XX
2009 Suzuki Hayabusa GSXR1300

Not in that specific order :sneaky:

But I went from the 125 to the 954.

I went to a corporate meeting once with my leathers and my colors (I ride in a bike club aswell)

You should have seen the peoples faces! Priceless!

Should you be typing that out where everyone can see it? o_O
Always thought guys hide the fact that they own a Busa

Never man, very proud of it! Always wanted one. Would have taken the BMW but I do allot of long distance riding and the wife rides with me, so the RR wouldn't work.

Anyone who thinks a BMW is expensive to run has got it very wrong.

R1944 for the 30,000km service which included brake fluid change and fork oil service. Nobody has ever done that on my bikes before even though the manual says it should be done.

Running costs, brake pads and oil vary ever so slightly among the bigger capacity road bikes. It's when they do a full service, that's when things can become expensive depending on the make and model. Some bikes need to be almost taken apart for a service and valve checks etc etc. BMW boxer engines have their engine hanging out of the bike. So I suppose it's easier to get to?

My K1300GT 90000km service was about R 5000 and they did a valve clearance, it has 16 valves and you need to remove the Radiator as well to flush it etc. That service is cheaper than the 15000k service on the 1290SD.

Exactly my point.

The major service on the BMW was even R3995 with the valve checks and everything.

Comparatively cheap compared to everyone else.

My "little" Triumph cost a fortune to maintain in comparison.

One of the secrets is that BMW doesn't charge massive half hour increments for labour but instead breaks it down to 5 minute chunks so you don't get overcharged for stupid stuff like everyone else.

Then there is the factor that I've gotten a courtesy bike EVERY time. Last time that happened was when I had my Buell with Hardley Davidson and even they got less and less consistent with it.

BMW design their bikes for ownership. Everyone else designs them to sell them only and don't give a toss what they cost to keep.

I didn't know about this. That is a really good practice to have, more places should adopt that.

Funnily enough, My mother just traded her Kawasaki GTR1400 for a 2018 "special" or "limited edition" BMW S1000XR this past Saturday.
Though their entire shop came to look at my 1290 xD which is funny considering they had like 5 BMW S1000RRs and 2 BMW HP4s sitting outside where my bike was parked.

This one is the one she got.

Yoh that is one serious mom!

I was dead keen on the XR but when riding it couldn’t stand the cable clutch and revvy motor.

Not in contrast to the hydraulic clutch and torque RS anyway.

Compared to more others outside the BMW camp (like the Multistrada I also looked at) I would still have it but inside the BMW like up the RS stole my heart.

Actually the RnineT did but it wasn’t practical enough for my needs.

Pretty, like the motorsport colours.

Is there a noobie group? Like super never been on a track noob group?
I have a friend who wants to try a track out.
Well I race short circuit racing with Motards.
There is however a clubmans class. As long as it has 2 wheels.

What bike does he have?
He can perhaps rather do a track day if he just wants to ride on the track ?

Would that be "Bikermom" by any chance?

Yip, she be "Bikermom".
I thought you knew I am BMS on the thinkbike forum xD.

He has a Suzuki GSX-S1000.
He's never been on a track and he has only been riding on the road for 2 years roughly.

My mother was the person who put me on a bike. One afternoon after I walked back from primary school, there was a 125cc ching chong motorcycle in the driveway which was my 1st bike ever.
She has been riding bikes for ever, from little two strokes when she was younger all the way to the GTR1400 she had until she traded it in. She still has her Yamaha Super Tenere, a 1200cc parallel twin. She had a Suzuki V-strom in the past, a Kawasaki ER6F as well.

My mother bought my Honda CB1000R for my sister, It's in my mother's name now so it's technically hers.

You're drastically overestimating my memory. Drugs are bad mmkay.

Haven't seen her in a while. Say hi and congrats on the new ride! Does she still have the SuperTen?

Just for the record @D3TTOL's mom is a proper OG biker who has done some epic trips around the country - mad respect.

Cool man, I assumed as much if she is riding that kind of bike.

It's the vision I have for my kids...although at four years old can't even get her to commit to the bicycle yet.

Oeh got myself a full slick rear for Sundays race. Can't wait!!
Braaaap

I'll let her know.
Yea, She still has her Tenere. She is still contemplating if she is going to sell it or not.
