I just want to give a HUGE shout out to ASUS South Africa ASUS South Africa , Particularly Engela and Stuart at head office in Fourways.

I broke three fins off of one of the fans on my Strix RX 480 and not only did they replace it, but ALL THREE, free of charge!

It's this kind of service that goes a long way and makes customers for life, which I always have been and now certainly always will be.

Thank you Asus SA. You guys are absolute legends!

Big ups that is awesome.

If I may ask, how did you break them? Always fascinated at how people manage to break fins off of the fans and bend pins on a a mobo/cpu
Just being an idiot and trying to hot plug a drive in with the side panel off WHILE the PC is running. My thumb hit it and boom, three fins broke off.

I know...I'm a moron.

Like all things, it breaks when we men are careless idiots. The only time he will really learn to not do it, is when he one day loses his finger and can longer do it. :D

My friend decided to build his pc after he celebrating with Richelieu a little bit. Bent and broke the pins of the LGA connector. Was a 3K board 7 years ago but I still remember (Mainly cause he mounted it against the wall with his broken CPU Fan)

MSI told me I could go suck a fat one.
I don't think they have a local representative, maybe means maybe if you send it back to China they could help you out

can consider yourself lucky that they replaced the fans.. its user error that damaged the product and not a faulty product.

Im just wondering if the same service standards would be applied if the card changed ownership. Would be helpful info for people that have bought second hand ASUS cards here.

I would have assumed they would at least charge you for the replacement fans. Lucky you got it all sorted! Nice! 👌

Yup I am the original owner but they asked no questions. Just sorted me out!

Maybe since theyre so nice..maybe we can ask them to sponsor some prizes for Carbonite members...like how MyBB offers their members.....just a thought.

No I don't think they do have a local representative. They just told me outright that any physical damage is deemed the user's fault (which it was, so fair play) and they won't replace the fans. Luckily somebody on the forum watercooled their 1080, so I bought the cooler and heatsink from them. After I replaced the fans on my broken RX580 somebody wanted to replace one fan on their mining card and I gifted the heatsink and cooler to them (as they only required one working fan). And that's why you gots to love the community here.

In all fairness, Asus could have told him the same thing since it’s human error and not a fault of the GPU.

There’s having a warranty and then there’s being an idiot. Insurance is where the idiot part comes in ahahaha

My fin also broke off.... have you got a contact perhaps.
I wouldn't mind paying for it though.... if they replace for free then bonus
