Anyone following Battlefield V? From the teaser below, it looks like we are in for a WWII setting (Union Jack, Iron Cross, Germans winning, Pilot's Goggles). The reveal is scheduled for May 23rd (May 23th, 11pm local time for us). I am sure we can all agree that there is a lot to learn from and build on from the Battlefield 1 launch regarding the availability of local servers (among other issues). Hopefully things will be different this time!

Yes, if there are not more local servers (conquest wise as it seems that everyone only like to play that and I am tired to wait in queue for 30 min ore more sometimes) or servers available to rent locally then NO Battlefield V for me.

I got that 10 hours free BF1 time... I've played around 6 hours. 2 of which was spent in a queue probably.
I'm super keen on a decent BF title again, but will have to wait and see. I do not have high hopes :-(

I'm pretty keen for this. BF1 was great and I'm thrilled it's WW2 and not back to another bland modern day setting.

Looks decent,BF1 for me at least, wasn't completely justified as a purchase because of the lack of local servers(I could only find a few under the 100 ping range)but still another half-decent title.
Still probably would play BF4 over this though.(Gotta hit dat 2K mark ;))

Yes, the WWII setting is refreshing from the Battlefield scene. Not so much on the gaming scene though; We've just had a WWII shooter from CoD.

I think that was an issue for most local players. How full are the local BF4 servers these days?

Still not the greatest, but there's a few that work quite well.

Did anyone catch the reveal? The news that there won't be a Premium version of the game (all maps available to all players) and the absence of loot boxes that give players an advantage is promising.

Doesn't seem so interesting, would rather see how blops 4 would be like TBH

Super excited about this.
I said that I wouldn't touch this if this is WW2 - after watching the gameplay trailer (in the reveal) and hearing the following - I have changed my mind:

• No premium pass
• No pay to win content
• Free maps

I'm holding thumbs that EA/DICE have learnt there lesson and will bring "Battlefield" back to it's glory.

Also, there was NO mention of "BATTLE ROYALE" which also excited me, but I know they will implement it or ship it with "type" of BR.
I'm so sick of everything having "BR" modes - like, if a game doesn't have, you not gonna play it.

Whatever.

Also, they have a SP mode - that's great for so many reasons.

I am pretty excited for this. It is awesome that they have gotten rid of the premium pass. But lets hold thumbs for SA servers. We still have a couple of months to judge. Actual gameplay is coming out 9 June I think.

This video would have made a much better reveal trailer. Actual info and exciting changes.

Okay i thought the game felt like more of the same but after actually watching jackfrags dissecting the video im actually quite amped. Might even buy on day one.

No premium pass, yet. The premium pass is never announced at first, yes they have said they won't have it but they will. They already have a deluxe edition for 200 bucks more. current cost of the base game is R950 and then for the deluxe edition which essentially gives you skins is another 200 bucks more.

Agreed. One positive to take from this is that (at the moment) a Battle Royale game mode is not a big selling point for them else they would have mentioned it at release.

I reckon the availability of local servers at launch is going to be a deal maker/breaker for most SA gamers.

Thanks for the post!

Didn't like the trailer at all, looked like a proof of concept demo at E3 two years before release.

Still, will probably pre-order.

Very interesting. A lot of new features for BF, but very little of it is novel or unique. It's like they finally looked at what other games have been doing over the years. Like the type of characters movements you can do in Arma 3, crouch sprinting, building fortifications. But I'm sure they are able to make all these features much more fluid and less cumbersome as in other games.

Ugly.... Will buy when it's cheap. I guess Bf4 for another year. It still feels like hardline and bf1 combined. Why does bf3 and Bf4 feel more " grown up and gritty"

Im just waiting to hear of any SA servers news. If we get them on release, then a day one buy, hell, even preorder. But if not, then pass, or until we get some servers.
Will be cool if there are servers but it will probably be like bf1. Servers after like 4 months or whatever it was.

That being said BF1 was still fun on EU servers.

I'll give the public beta a go whenever that comes around and decide from there

wanted to continue watching, but sorry, it is getting way too complicated

BF2... simplicity and it made it the best to date

also and I know I have been doing it wrong, but they are now making it completely pointless to even try and just have some solo fun

yes, it is good to keep up with newer types of games, but just going to start copying other games is turning it away from people that enjoyed the game for what it was

dare I say it, but it's like COD players coming to BF or vice versa

why do things have to get overly complicated and not just have that "fun" (yes ok I know for some people, having to dissect a game is fun) factor in it anymore?

anyways, I will probably do a BETA if one is going to be available, but all the gameplay stuff aside, it will probably be the cost that won't make me get it now

Looks excellent. I like the no premium pass and weapon customization (play for skins bullshit like in battleshit 1). Preordered

"play for skins" I can live with, but "pay for skins" is a no-no

also, then it should come after any sort of major upgrade, ie going from 1000 to 2000 shouldn't give me a crappy camo skin when it can give me some sort of sight instead
