Bad time to buy GPU?

So this thread did not age well.
Today I could get a 3070 for what I paid for my 3060ti. 3060ti is very strong though so still pretty happy. Just going to lose out come resale eventually. oh well.
3070 at 11.5k and dropping
3070Ti at 12k

The main thing is are you happy with the GPU you have purchased, can you do everything that you purchased it for?

Then it's a win still as pricing is affected by many factors and does not fall within the control of the many.

Prices can go up or drop at the tip of a hat. As with anything once you're happy with your purchase don't go price hunting or you'll set yourself up for disappointment with a special or price drop that you missed out on.

It's not worth buying a 2 year old GPU for a full price when new gen is couple of months away. Greedy company (AMD/NVidia) want to push MSRP even higher.

Intel better bring out attractive GPU prices sooner!

Did you sell the old 3060 when you bought your 3060Ti? Remember that the price you could have got for the 3060, had you sold today, would be less than you got back then (although, as usual, the second-hand prices are dropping more slowly than the new prices). So it's worth taking that into account when you feel bad about "losing out."

I was in the same boat as you and could also have paid less had I bought now, but the price I'd have got for my old GPU now is less than I got back then, which mitigates the price drop somewhat, if not completely.

Besides, hindsight is 20/20. There was know way of knowing for sure back then what GPU prices were going to do today. All you can do at any point is make a decision with the information you have available to you.

Good point and I sold my 3060 for exactly what I paid (R10500).
I have also got about 2 months of use out of my 3060ti and at that time I had time to game. Right now less so and the new GPU are super close.

I'm not that bleak, it's not the end of the world.

I also lost out with my 2070s though, sold for R8k, next week everyone selling them for R12k haha.
