DEAL THREAD: Samsung 24" Monitor 1080p (S24D390HL)

So I purchased and paid for the Monitor on this Sunday past (18 October). The item was delivered toda y (Wednesday, 21 Oct). It was well packaged, the seller went above and beyond in this regard. Shipping also ended up being more expensive and the seller said he would cover the additional costs as postnet required oriignal packaging which he did not have and an alternative courier had to be used. This all lead me believe that I was dealing with a great person. He was efficient with shipping and made every effort, I guess he was happy to get rid of the monitor.

Unfortunately, once I set it up, I noticed it had a few dead pixels. (see image below, although hard to see in pictures). I contacted the seller and advised him accordingly and sent him the same image with circled dead pixels. He responded that he was using the monitor and there were no dead pixels. I stated that it was not possible that it happened during shipping or when I first set it up. I suggested that he propose a solution, to which he stated that the paid x-amount for packaging and delivery etc and that he was not prepared to provide any compensation. I stated that I was rather looking for a return and full refund.

One of the questions I had specifically asked him (via whatsapp and I have the transcript if needed), was whether the monitor had any dead pixels - to which he responded in the negative. He also said that there were no scratches marks etc ., which is also not entirely true (as the base does have some scratching etc, I was happy to overlook that).

I believe that it's impossible that 4 or 5 noticeable dead pixels suddenly appeared when I switched the monitor on for the first time. I believe that there is no way that the seller didn't know they were present and sold the item without disclosing this. In fact he blatantly lied about it when the question was raised before the deal was concluded.

Guess you have to be wary of everyone these days! I was excited about getting my first monitor (for laptop and nuc) and I'm highly disappointed with how some people operate.

I think this is a false portrayal of the situation. There are details that have been omitted. The majority of our communication was through WhatsApp and buyer is welcome to upload transcript and all images sent.

I stand by my statement that there were no dead pixels prior to delivery of the screen. I had been using the monitor daily for a week prior to sale and there were no screen defects.

I sent the buyer pictures of the screen and a video after which he accepted condition and finalized the sale. The issue I had with arranging postnet delivery was that they do not deliver monitors without the original receipt packaging. I informed the buyer of this and then arranged delivery through TCG at extra expense while trying my best to arrange suitable packaging. I believe the damage happened while the screen was being transferred and that is out of my control. I’m disappointed this happened but there were no prior latent screen defects.

A false portrayal? 🤣

Do you really expect anyone to believe that the dead pixels were caused in transit? As mentioned above the item was very well packaged. You're one of those people who keeps lying even when called out!

Yes the whatsapp transcipt will reflect that you sent images etc. You know fully well that it would have been impossible for me to see those defects in the images you sent, you also had an image/wallpaper on the screen. You were deliberate, sly and underhanded. We all know that much is hidden in pictures.

Anyway, I'm done wasting my time and energy on this. You have zero credibility as far as I am concerned.

On a brand new screen they allow up to 10 pixels to be dead before they classify it as a return needed to replace.

Don't know about that?? 10 sounds high. The point is the seller was specifically asked if it had any dead pixels before hand and he said no. Either way it should have been disclosed.

Anyway I think it's time this thread is locked. It's pointless going on and on.

To me dishonesty is sly, underhanded and deceitful. I expect any trader on a forum like this to be honest with full disclosure. and when specifically asked and still lied to that really irks me! I paid upfront based on trust.
