Description of Bad Deal:
This serves to inform other users not to be caught out by this seller

I sent him a PM on Tuesday, 16th Oct 2018 regarding a laptop that he was selling. We chatted via WhatsApp (+27 81 364 8387) confirmed everything with pictures, etc and paid him for the laptop + courier fees. He said that he would courier it with Dawn Wing from Newcastle to me (starting to sound familiar like RShaw scam) and would send me the tracking number. The money was deposited into a FNB account of a Matthew du Toit (said that his real name was Matthew). Long story, short, the tracking number was never sent to me (Obviously, the laptop did not arrive either). There were numerous excuses and the usual story of I will send it in 5 mins. Yesterday, I gave him an ultimatum to either send me the tracking number by 4pm or it would be reported as fraud and got no further response.

This was my first purchase on Carbonite but I guess that this is the risk of purchasing something unseen. I was aware of this risk - just don't want others to be caught out by the same scam.

Another thing which was co-incidental (or not): On the Tuesday afternoon, I got a phone call from Switzerland (+41 44 888 99 99) trying to tell me that I have been selected to some investment scheme. I was busy and the told guy to call me some other time. He was very persistant like all the direct marketing investment (scam) schemes. He called me again on Wednesday morning from a local cell number (087 0533 230) and told me that he had called me the previous day and was following up. I was driving again and told him to stop calling me. The minimum investment amount was US$10k.

All in all, this guys could be a re-incarnation of RShaw and is just giving sellers from Newcastle a bad name. Perhaps, the laptop sale (R2k) was just a "hook" for the big scam of US$ 10k.
