Sent the seller a PM yesterday about the 4790 he had for sale and if for whatever reason it falls through (as someone was ahead of me) I would make immediate payment. He only had two ratings, but from reputable members with 10+ deals. Chat then went to whatsapp where he sent me a pic of the CPU and told me the guy ahead of me was not responding and that I could have it. Made immediate payment with shipping included. We chatted a little and he mentioned the i3 6100 he also had for sale. I told him I am interested in 6th and 7th gen Intels and he said he had a G4400 for R400 that he could sell to me. I agreed and told him to send it with the 4790. He then said the i3 6100 he could also include for R600. I agreed. When I sent my address in Bloemfontein, he said he is coming here today for a hospital appointment and could bring it along and save me the shipping costs. I asked is I could pay the R1000-R85 shipping saving in cash today. He refused stating he never deals in cash.
We were supposed to meet around 10AM. I sent him whatsapp messages at 08:06 and at 09:50. He responded at 09:54 with "morning". Not a word since. I have since sent 4 messages between then and 11:24. No response. I tried a normal cell phone call which goes straight to "the subscriber you have dialled". Then I tried a whatsapp call which is how he called me yesterday, and that rings, but goes unanswered. What actually got me very suspicious is when I logged onto Carb and saw he was last seen browsing listings a few minutes before I called him. I have also since sent him PMs on Carb. Obviously no response.
Anyway, that is my story. Will be able to back up everything via whatsapp chats, just not the whatsapp calls where he says he will be in Bloemfontein today for the hospital visit. What was also strange was that he had to go to a Capitec ATM to draw a statement to see if I had paid, because the account belongs to his girlfriend and she only opened it yesterday and hasnt setup SMS notifications. Yes, I see now the red flags I should have spotted miles away. His name is Chris, and the name of account holder starts with an A.
I will happily eat humble pie and apologise if whatever I said above is wrong, or if he has a seriously legit reason for not so much as a simple whatsapp response, but able to browse Carb.
