Hi all

Not sure if this is really the right thread (or even forum) for this but just looking for opinions. Over the last 2 years I ended up driving with a few friends up from Durban to JHB for rAge. We usually just take the toll roads and I was thinking the other day what if I just took a route that either used a few tolls or just avoided them entirely? According to Google Maps, avoiding all the tolls is an extra 40 odd kilometres (but apparently 2 hours longer but that's generally based on traffic at the time of Googling and whatnot).
So my question is, is the route that avoids the tolls really that much worse in comparison to the toll roads or would it be more worthwhile to just go through all the tolls?

Stick to the Toll roads

YES, YES IT IS.

I took that exact route for a wedding we had in DBN, the road itself was a nightmare, and as a little added surprise, there was protests going somewhere along the way, and apart from driving over all the rocks, dodging tires, and believe it or not, a fridge! it was a very unpleasant experience, take the toll road and pony up.

Go throught toll gates please its safer better visibility and if you get into trouble people can assist faster heed my advice , ,
