Hey,
So I've purchased the ROG 2 8/128GB tencent international version from Gearbest.

Sorry for the long message but does anyone experience the same issue?

I have an issue with my YouTube app, Playstore and Google Maps when signed in and using mobile data, the app won't load.
If I'm signed out of my Google account, it works on mobile data.

On wifi it works Normal, also when signed in with my account.

I have contacted Asus and this is what they told me :

"My name is Allen and it is my pleasure to help you with the issue.

Please feel free to rate our service according to the solution provided in the questionnaire that will be sent to you shortly after our reply to your inquiry.

I am sorry to hear that you are facing an issue with your Asus ROG Phone II . I have checked with the serial number provided and I have to inform you that this phone was made by Asus only for China region and it does not have Google Play services. This is the reason you are not able to use YouTube, Google Maps or Google Play store on your phone.

The phone was probably rooted to add this function, but they are not officially logged to Google so they may incounter issues. Unfortunately we cannot assist you, as this phone was never meant to be used outside China.

If you have purchased the phone from a local reseller, please contact them for assistance or replace the phone with a World Wide model. "

Message 2:

I have checked with the serial number (the serial number that identifies your product and only your product) and this phone is the chinese version, it is not the world wide version.

Gearbest only has this option in order to know what rooted firmware to install on the phone. But the firmware installed is not an original Asus firmware and it will not have all the features or receive official Asus updates.

Unfortunately the phone will not have all the Asus or Google features and you will have to use it with those limitations. Please contact the reseller if you want to return the product.

We hope that the given information will be useful and we wish you a great day.

Best Regards,
Allen

Use this to make your CN a WW. I did it on mine and now am currently on the Android 10 Beta :D
I Haven't rooted or flashed before , I don't want to cause further problems/brick the phone.

Did you experience the Google problems before you changed yours to WW?

Nope I never had issues as I had flashed the WW firmware to it. The CN firmware is terrible.

I see as well in the ASUS Rog Phone 2 page on Gearbest for the 8gb/128gb version, they have a link to a youtube video showing you how to convert the firmware to WW in order to receive the OTA Updates.

Probably similar to the XDA link that Ageless_ZA has posted in his messages.

There's flashing custom firmware, like you mentioned. The link I posted is unlocking the bootloader, rooting the device, changing the signature in the core firmware to show WW, relocking the bootloader, unrooting and flashing WW OEM firmware.

My phone is now forever a WW.
