The press releases have come out. Stock is in SA and we can all play in a few days.
I only care about this motherboard as it's the one closest to my interests. Will post results here as soon as it's legal to do so.

Pretty awesome looking motherboard, with great features for those who like to tune for performance. Unlike with INTEL platform there's a lot to tune here which can make a but of a difference in performance, power and heat output. I'm convinced there aren't any better motherboards out there than this one in terms of outright performance and tuning capabilities. I've seen as have you some results from MSI boards, but I'm willing to bet the CHVII is still the better option ;)

It's not a cosmetic upgrade over the CHVI and there are some fundamental differences between these which will help with an overall better experience. More consistent performance, better stability and reliability as well. While the VRM may look identical, it is not and has been further improved. How many reviews will go into this, I can't be sure however it does matter I think when you'll be paying top price for the most premium motherboard there is barring the Extreme or some such thing if there ever is to be one.
 
Finally ready to give the retail version of the Crosshair VII Hero Wi-FI a spin.

Doubt if I'll bother with any other board, perhaps the Extreme maybe, but this is one awesome piece of kit. Nice performance boosts as well as per usual with ROG boards and their profiles and performance bias options.

Not sure if ill get the x470. Def waiting for the Extreme version if they making one. Main reason i got the x370 hero extreme was the horizontal 24pin. <3 dont know if i can go back to another board with a vertical one haha.
 
This memory is savage under the right conditions ;) (4000 C11 good, like the early to mid life B-die, not the rubbish you find now)

Outside of it being competition to INTEL of course. I'm just excited purely for it's improvements over 1st gen Ryzen.
Just in case some people were expecting some unrealistic overclocks or performance.

Isn't that to miss the point of overclocking completely?
When a drag car does an 8 sec 1/4 Mile, is it sort of pointless?
When F1, Indy, Nascar vehicles go around in circles, is it pointless?
Why is overclocking and validation looked at in a different light? Does it not take technical know-how, effort and dedication to achieve? If so, then why is it pointless?

As a Intel fan I must say, from a streaming, and purely streaming POV, the new AMD stuff looks VERRRRY good. The concensus seems to be get the non X and OC it, but this is to save ~$30 so ~ R500 which I can't believe in "a thing" coming from reputable, technical reviewers. Maybe it just shows how rubbish the ZAR is & how little R500 buys VS what USD30 buys?

1. Milestones aren't measured solely by beating a benchmark score. This 6GHz matters because it speaks to the process and node AMD is employing vs. the previous Ryzen which couldn't get anywhere near this frequency.
2. You again assume I've not beaten any score, the thing is you didn't ask, didn't bother looking or anything. You just assumed because that is easier and you can do it from your keyboard or mobile phone. Not a surprise that you're wrong, very wrong actually, as not only did I beat GPU PI 1B record, also landed the only AMD in top 20 for GeekBench 3 (Actually #2 in the world Global), Top 10 in R15 (Actually have the record at present for AMD and #8 for 8-Core CPUs global) and #4 in Cinebench R11.5 with all the scores above at 6GHZ+

Then again, always easier to throw shade right, especially before you have any information :)

1. You can't know what the 99% of people want, find interesting or need. You can only know about you and the things that concern you and like minded people. Your world is not the entire world.

2. CPU-Z validation is important once again because it speaks to the maturity of the manufacturing process or the advancements made. Being able to switch transistors that quickly is an achievement. In 2006, IBM was switching a transistor at 500GHz @ 4.5Kelvin - (https://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1162060) Was that a pointless exercise because it's not relevant to you and your gaming needs?

3. CPUs are not made just for you, your games etc. It's computing power, it's technology and it's science. Can be applied to many different things and used by many different people. More over even if you did represent the 99.9%, does that then mean 0.01 shouldn't have something or a product that speaks to their interests, purely because it has no relevance or interest to you? There are millions of people who don't care about a great many things you do, that doesn't mean the products and things you care for shouldn't exist.

4. How do you say it can't be measured since it isn't stable? What do you think we are measuring in GHZ? We measure clock cycles, using an internal clock counter, that is a measurement.

5. Tiny step in the right direction how exactly? Do you know what the intention was for AMD and what their milestones were?
Did you consider leakage, scalability, yields etc? Those are the things that matter to AMD. With the same Ryzen you can find or not find things that matter to you. However, do not assume that your perspective and vantage point is the one and only valid one. These validations actually matter, that's why both INTEL and AMD literally have LN2 and CPU containers etc inside their labs. That is why they will screen a number of CPUs and send to vendors and ask them to clock away. It is to test many things including the limitations and variations in the silicon quality in extreme cases. One of the things that was fixed in Ryzen 2 is PCI-Express dropping down to 1.1 and x1 mode under LN2, you don't know about this because you never tried Ryzen LN2, dont' care for it etc. Yet that is something that was reported after the last LN2 session from Ryzen 1. That issue is much improved and 3D benchmarks can be run with the CPU under LN2 now. How else was this diagnosis going to be performed if not at these extreme temps and frequencies?

6. Lastly, it doesn't have to mean anything to you and if it doesn't feel free to leave the thread. Because all this has added nothing. The work is from other people, the achievement is by other people, the sharing of information is by other people, the context is understood by other people, but in all of this it must come down to just your singular opinion which you can formulate by literally doing nothing.

Boot into Windows at say 4.5GHz with 1.55V
Then once you're in windows (you can do this before actually and probably should), bring the temperatures down as much as possible. In AMD Ryzen 2's case that's full pot i.e -185'C or as low as it'll go. Then you proceed to adjust the multiplier in Windows using TurboV.
Windows boot is stressful or rather sensitive in peculiar ways that some benchmarks are not, so best not to boot into windows at that frequency even if the CPU could.

Anyway, some key differences between CHVI and the CHVII

+ VRM configuration and component selection
- Board is still 12 phase PWM but moves from 8+4 to 10+2. You still have 12 phases, but the arrangement and layout is different. This time SOC only gets 2 phases as it's a low power/low heat part of the CPU package.
The layout also has the SOC VRMin between the CPU VRM which means you don't end up with a chain heat producing components right on top of each other. These granted are small changes, but they do make a difference in system temps as you can see in the thermal imaging below

The differences are rather obvious.
This is obviously with the heat sinks removed in both cases with the CPU cooled via an AIO.
4GHz 1.43V in both cases and Prime95 running for 30min+

No regular game benchmark scores yet. There was a new BIOS issued and some testing anomalies so will have to redo a lot of tests :(
(Retail BIOS that media tested with doesn't have the same performance as the latest BIOS)
