Hi there gents.

So I got my permit and letter from the department of health today , and so did the other 1000+ employees to state that we must venture on and work through the lockdown?

And I wont lie but I dont think a 21 lockdown period will make covid 19 go away , and if we do get rid of it , we wont be able to open our borders till we know there is not a single person left of it otherwise we could have another pandemic?

What are your thoughts and views on those that have to travel ? how does it make you feel ? just curious ? anyone else having to work ?

Hope to hear from you stay safe you all.

P.s for those at home this guy is giving away a massive key giveaway during the lockdown period 10 days left from post I think ---->>YouTube

P.s.s His channel is gaming taylor , he also does reviews on humblebundle monthlies choices

I support critical service (apparantly) so going to work with a letter as per normal.

Will be interesting to see how many times I will get pulled over ;-)

Would rather be home with my kids but lucky to have a job and have people depending/relying on me so hum hum ho, of to work we go!

The point isn’t to make it go away, think of it as load shedding for hospitals.

Work as normal on my side, also got travel permits but seeing as work is pretty isolated doubt I will get pulled over.

It was never supposed to make it go away, it's just supposed to flatten the curve so as not to totally debilitate health systems.

Put another way, it's better to have 10 thousand cases in 3 weeks than half a million.

You're in for a rude awakening if you expected it to go away anytime soon.

I also received my Regulation 11B(3) pass, meh. Early days but my friends in saps say there will be daily roadblocks where you'll have to show this letter + ID or access card, at least here in the platteland.
It feels normal notwithstanding the severity of the virus, fortunately I'm in a 2 cases province (+2) overnight. We'll have real infection numbers once we start mass testing and that scares me.

We have to flatten the curve but that's entirely up to behavior, infections and I would assume a range of other factors during the 21 day lockdown. It might be extended to 3 month's.

3 months will kill off all our businesses, large and small.

If they just relaxed the courier rules , it would give many businesses opportunities to carry on at low capacity. Yes for now essential services only, but at some point they should be expanded.
Couriering goods is such a low risk activity.
The could disinfect packages on both ends of the courier routes.
In any case as soon as they eventually let us all out 21 days , 2 months , 3 months later the numbers will just rise again .
I'm 100% behind what is being done now, but there comes a point where the death of our economy will be far more destructive than this pandemic.

Travel could open up, you will just need to be quarantined on both ends before ¹you can get in I guess :)

The cure will come soon. Imagine all scientists and people at home folding

It's about 2 days away hahahaha if only :(

Its said 2021 will have a cure and if we are lucky before then, apparently we are testing with human trials so let's see what happens.

Vaccines generally take 3 years.
They are hoping to have this one done in a year

Until it mutates. It already has 2 strains. In time we will probably have a seasonal vaccine for the various mutations of Covid-19, like we do for influenza.

I got my pass and everything yesterday.

I was pretty gutted this morning when I didn't even see a single police officer or SANDF soldier on my way to work :/
It felt like back in high school when you rushed to finish homework right before a class starts, only to find out the class was cancelled for whatever reason.

@Petester - Agree with the courier part.

Being an IT consultant has it's benefits to keep on trading remotely and we all actually have more work at the moment. Our biggest issue is that most of our clients aren't allowed to trade but still require work to be done to some extent for them.

Will they have the funds to keep paying us? That's the big ball ache here.

It's tough. I have similar concerns... many of my clients are not trading now.

With regards to allowing people to continue doing stuff and using couriers, it's all about the risk...if you don't have your own warehouse stocked with stuff it is coming from "somewhere" which means that "somewhere" has to have staff to pick and pack your stuff. So each different type of product comes from a different type of "somewhere" meaning that if you sell 3 different things there could be 3 different "somewheres" that need to be operational.

Yes too many somewhere's does create some risk factor again. Our economy unfortunately cannot extend lock down for another period after this.

Majority of our people will take their chances and go out and look for food. Dying from hunger or dying from the virus both ends up in death. And unfortunately that's the state our country is in.

I am slowly shitting myself as to what the end results are going to be.

I am guessing for this we should keep an eye on what is going in Lagos Nigeria, as that could like be an indicator of worst case scenario.

Ja... we're in for a tough time for the next while. I'm hoping that everyone can pull through this. I'm trying to help where I can.

So if anyone needs to chat, support or whatever... drop me a pm and I will do what I can.
