Anybody tried the checkers gaming monitor ?

Cannot wait to try it out tonight.

So what are the "official Carbonite" Nvidia colour settings.

TBH I have never in my life adjusted colour before so wouldn't know where to start.

Oh and Eastgate still have boatloads of either left, or so our driver says.

Anyone who bought the 27 inch that can possibly estimate the size of the box? Planning on getting one here in JHB and shipping it down to Cape town when I can travel back :p

I don't really know what I'm doing, but I think I got the colours matching (more or less) between my laptop and the screen with the Intel Display options. Although I would like more darker blacks on the 24". Don't know how to get it though.

All I really did on my 24" was turn the gamma down to .80, out of the box the gamma looked about 1.6 but with gamma .80 in the Nvidia control panel it's much closer to 2.2.

Also I hope no one is using it at its default brightness otherwise your eyes will be fucked in about a month.

Ive gotten it to work on my side, also switches between on and off, but my friends pc isnt even giving an option in the nvidia control panel to enable g sync.

Are your friend also using a Displayport cable?

Yes dp connected, tried my dp aswell on his pc, no luck.. maybe we are doing something wrong? Freesync enabled, refresh set to 144hz.. no "set up gsync" tab in nvidia control panel

Yessir, got my displayport cable delivered today and G-Sync is working with it. Need to get some real world test but the G-Sync indicator does come on when I try the AMD Windmills and Nvidia Pendulum tests.

I'm using it on my laptop and it's working at the full 144hz.
On your Advanced Display Settings page, when you go to Display Adapter Properties and then select the Monitors tab, can you select 144hz from there?

@johnny_h where did you get your display cable from...

I have been playing around with the OSD settings a bit more to get it more brighter as with the previous settings it was a bit dark in games
Below are the settings for guys who would like to try

Brightness
Brightness-85
Contrast between 45 and 50 depending on what suits your eyes mines at -47
Black level-55

color temp- warm
red-49
green-49
Blue-50

As to ICC profiles, can another carbie test something out for me?
I downloaded the Samsung C24FG70 driver and installed it onto my monitor (I know it's for the 24"version but apparently the panel is the same somehow?)

Anyway, I installed the driver and I think things look pretty good. Problem is I don't know if it's a placebo or not. It is using the color profile for the samsung monitor, and I think it looks good. But it could be wishful thinking

So after a few hours of use on the 27" I gotta say I'm impressed.
If it's the kinda budget you're looking at, it's a great deal.
The stand is a let down and the menu/power button toggle joystick thing is very annoying but the actual screen itself is good.

Regarding calibrated settings - I'm no expert and am still trying to tweak em but if you wanna try something other than the default my current settings are:

Monitor:
Brightness: 60
Contrast: 60
Black Level: 35
Low Blue Light Level: 0
Eco: Standard
DCR: Off

Color Temp: User
Red: 45
Green: 45
Blue: 46

Nvidia control panel:
Use Nvidia Color Settings
Color Depth: 32-bit
Color Depth: 8bpc
Output Color Format: RGB
Output Dynamic Range: Full

Adjust desktop color settings:
Digital vibrance: 60%
Content Type reported to display: Full-screen videos (don't think that makes a difference though).

Would be interested to hear from someone with a calibration tool what settings they get
i just applied these settings and it looks amazing well done dude really appreciate you sharing this

Will try it out and update here

If anyone wants just the ICC profile:

File on MEGA

I picked up the bracket as well.
Gotta say this is much better than the flimsy looking stand it comes with.

I'm pretty happy with this setup

Holy kak, I didn't expect this to become 13+ pages... From the initial testing, can the following be confirmed?
- It can do 144hz
- It has Freesync
- It can also do G-Sync (VERY interested in this)

Besides being TN, are we not looking at the best G-Sync monitor that a normal human can afford?
Yes, yes and yes.

Nvidia CP didn't pick up the 144hz via DP cable, it did with HDMI. I set that via Windows Display Settings

G-SYNC (on a 1070 ti) - might be my DP Cable but I was getting intermittent blackouts on FPS dips. I used CRU to mess about with the minimum V rate limit. Changed the 48hz minimum progressively downward, this made it worse. I then upped the minumum to 60hz and G-Sync is happy with Freesync now, no blackouts and it's quite a pleasant experience. G-Sync Pendulum Demo locked at 40fps even looked pretty smooth.

Again, might just be my cable, however, this might come in handy for anyone who has the same trouble.

Just a heads up guys, I went to the Checkers Hyper (New Market) in Alberton, they charged me R2599 for monitor, had to literally convince the manager it is R1999 and show him the pamphlet from google -_- such chops, I was literally there the previous day and bought one for R1999 without issues.

:)

Seems like a bunch of newer laptops don't have the option of disabling iGPU at all. Disabling it in Device Manager makes the PC think that there's not a GPU attached as well.

So last resort, does someone know how to translate the Nvidia settings to Intel settings?

Did you manage to sort this out? I have the exact same issue, stuck at 120Hz.

Didn't really make a difference to me

I think this might be an Intel limitation. I use the one screen for work during the day connected to a rather unspectacular i5 laptop with only onboard. It will also not go higher than 120hz

Picked a 24" up From Checkers Hyper Tokai today.

Found two dead/stuck pixels out of the box.

Returning for a refund/replacement tomorrow.

Apart from the two pixels, it seems like a decent monitor.
