Job experience/skill: B.Sc. Information Technology (Hons., 4 yrs.), intern work while studying. Skills: programming, web design, software engineering, AI, tech support, and other tech-related skills.
Hi guys, so this is a bit of a weird Job Wanted post. I am posting this on behalf of someone else who I know. If this is against the rules, please do let me know.
This guy has been working in a family member's business as a casual for a while now, and the times that I've worked with him I've struck up some really good conversations with the guy.
I learnt that he is from Zimbabwe and has a Bachelor's in Computer Science, so we had many shared interests. We talked a lot about tech and the stuff he learnt, and I can see that he is really intelligent. He is only working as a casual laborer because he cannot find any other job (as you can see, he's way overqualified for it, the other laborers there call him "professor" as a joke about this). He has a wife and a baby to feed, so I guess he just took whatever job he could get.
Now here's the issue: he doesn't have a work permit for South Africa (at the moment). From what I have heard he needs around R3,000 to get one (and that a company willing to hire him will also help). I really would love to help him, but due to corona lockdown I am also very cash-strapped, so I was hoping that the least I could do is to post here as a long-shot and possibly get a company that would assist him in getting his permit and then hire him.
He is a very nice guy, very respectable and polite, tries his best to dress nice, is always well groomed and clean, and as I've said before, he's also very intelligent and keen to learn. I showed him some technical things specific to the (non-IT) industry we work in and he picked it up the first time I showed him (it took me a few tries to figure it out).
If anyone needs any more details about him or wants to get in contact with him, please do not hesitate to message me. I see so much potential in this guy, his skills are being wasted and he could really build himself an awesome career in IT if given the opportunity.
