Hey there Carbies

I do still have a job and will probably continue so through the pandemic sans yearly increase going for 2nd year and maybe even sans any performances bonus. Extremely grateful, just feeling the market a bit

What I am
NQF 4 electrician without wiremans (we work under a company master doing in kind repairs so never had the need)

What I am not
House wiring, bakkie and team guy who writes COCs

What I can
-Maintenance and config on ABB and WEG vsd's
-Auma and Rotork actuator maintenance and config
Add to these control loop faultfinding ranging from hard wiring, analogue (4 to 20mA) and profibus control(basic experience on bus control as they are mostly set and forget
-Faultfinding on Allen Bradley Plc's
-Faultfinding on Siemens Simocode equipped/GEC hardwired MCC
-Basic maintenance on GEC and ABB switchgear and protection

What I do mostly
-Inspections, including fire extinguishers, substation, battery maintenance, EX classified inspections
-Grease motors on time/as neefed
-Point out permissive conditions for equipment not starting and then try to hide my disdain that I had to drive there at some unholy hour to tell the operator that
-be the SAP Pm /R3 and General clever guy

So now that you know me, what am I worth to a company?

Industry and location plays a big role. Rural on a mine you looking at 25 to 35. City in a hospital you looking 15 to 25

very rural
MATLA - 22K+artisan retention allowance + shift +danger pay
NCC - 21K+artisan retention allowance + shift +danger pay
City - 18K+

These are my limited experiences (I would advise doing your wiremans *yes its a shlep but when you want to leave the country it actually has some merit + CoC's are quick and can be very lucrative).

22k? Eish, I'm staying right where I am

Basic is currently 30k plus then scarecity and some other sweeteners. Monthly ctc, 45k

Yeah it was a shit show - so I switched focus to a career into data verification and analysis.
I loved doing the hands on thing but it became repetitive, and in order to advance you need to basically find a job as a foreman or senior foreman as the chance of being promoted is non existent

The thing is, can't really go and be the junior again as I simply won't be able to afford it. If I may, what's your ctc now in data?

Talked with another user who's also in a maintenance electrician post with rather similar package, albeit slightly lower. Thing is they had some pretty nasty bio-accumulated nasties around. Now my place is no angel, but most of the nasties will either drop you dead or just suffocate you, not much of it builds up
