Any F1 enthusiasts?

Also I know that tyre management is a thing in racing, but wow is that a boring thing to have to spectate, may as well watch different colour paints dry to see who wins. They can easily make tyres that last the whole race, but they don't because they need ways to keep things "interesting". F1 need more innovations like the DRS to keep the overtakes and racing interesting.

Until there is more action per lap in F1 I am quite content to watch the highlights to keep up to speed. Excuse the pun.
Agree on the need for innovation and the boredom that is tyre-management.

I feel the opposite regarding DRS though. We only need it because the aero has been so complicated that is was the only way to make overtaking a real possibility. What I would like to see is less complicated aero, meaning following isn't as difficult and thus overtaking is a thing again. I don't know what percentage of overtakes come from DRS, but I prefer the hweel to wheel action. Albon?Hamilton is exactly the sort of racing and overtaking that I love seeing (minus the crash of course).

So, fix the aero.
Remove DRS.
Allow for innovation (DAS is a good example of innovation which is within current regulations and thus legal).
Remove all the complexities of the steering wheel and electronic changes possible (to a degree).

The 2021 (or is it now 2022?) rules seem to head in that direction which I think is pretty cool.

Innovation and focus on the drivers should be emphasized, all the other complexities should be shown the door.

Edit - Just nevermind, cannot dumb down to the level of arguments on this thread.

Enjoy the sport for what it is, you proving a point is not going to do jack shit about the decision that the fia took. People will support who they support and there are others that will hate those drivers with everything they have. Thats sport!

@UrBaN

So Lewis had full lock, but missed the apex because he got off the breaks too soon and didn't slow the car down enough... subtle enough to say "I don't know what to say".

I love it when he says "Hamilton's mistake". As if we should we think that it is a lack of experience issue?

So no comments on this weekends race?

Was the Haas penalty deserved?
Did Bottas deserve one?
How bout those RBR mechanics?

Do you think Ham will lap the whole field at Silverstone?

Decent race, Bottas messed up a good chance at winning. Since he lost so many places I dont think a penalty was needed. RBR mechanics for the win! Lets see if Bottas can take it to Ham, he has his moments. Merc engines are not sounding too reliable this year.

I'm out hear focusing on Williams and McLaren. Russell is driving insanely well(not like he doesn't), the general shake up of the field is nice to see. Haas have taken a big hit with Ferrari, and seeing how these cars are getting used to the season and what it could mean for next season is fun to think on.

The Haas penalty was stupid. They’ve tried banning communication before and then treatises it was a mistake. Now the engineers will just use code words to call the driver in on the parade lap.

The impression I got was that Bottas moved and then stopped before the lights went out. It was obviously very close but since there was no movement just before the lights went off, then the sensor wasn’t triggered which means no penalty. He blamed something that flashed on his steering wheel that got him triggered.

Red Bull did well to get the car fixed. Impressive.

Hamilton won’t lap the entire field but the combination of a him in that car is devastating for the opposition. Ferrari essentially created this year’s Mercedes monster by using some clever trickery to challenge Merc, forcing them to make the car even faster. Since Ferrari then got torpedoed by the FIA, Merc now have a super fast car that no one can beat.

I strongly doubt it... not while Ham keeps putting in -1sec laps to everyone else
As mentioned, Hamilton was just about faster than Bottas in quali, and Hamilton's fastest lap was done right at the end, with basically the lightest amount of fuel possible, and fresh tires.

The graph below suggests Bottas can easily take the fight to Hamilton (I'm NOT saying easily win).
It is a very convoluted graph, sorry. Bottas is light grey and Hamilton dark grey.

Now Hamilton hardly had DRS, so it's one major difference, but Hamilton also had clean air for the most part.

EDIT: Graph is from HERE

I get where you are coming from, But you are comparing someone in front driving miss daisy and another fighting in the field for position.
But yes, In theory Bot should be able to because they have the same cars. Both drivers have their own strengths at different tracks, But I think over a period Ham will still come out on top.

Now put Max, Ric, Lec or Norris in the merc next to Ham then it might be different, Or the same...

The one in the rain? How is that fair lol?

Whats not fair about it? Ham did his lap a couple of seconds before Bot? I'm pretty sure the weather had little to do with it... more the drivers ability to drive in the weather no?

Ya boy the covid not all bad. New tracks released for this year. Super excited to see Nurburgring back. How about you guys?
jeeezus im keen in Imola, Nov is a long long time away

Hey guys I can try and stream the F1 race tomorrow on discord if there is some of you that does not have Dstv because that shit is wayyy overpriced lol but will be in 720p and 30Fps

Hulkenburg is running very nicely, Albon overtakes are awesome. Vettel is angerey, Ricciardo is unforuntately down but hopefully the 2 stop benefits him. Good race so far :)

As I type this Ricciardo spins :(

Awesome race so far, wish every race could be like this. The different strategies makes it very exciting.

On another note - I heard a South African won the MotoGP...

Definitely enjoying it. Pushing 2 stops brings a lot more strategy and action out, allows the midfield to not stagnate after the opening stage. Look how much closer everyone is in general.

On an absolute masterclass of a race indeed, for his time in the Premier class, wow. Truly showing his discipline in riding style, I would like to say I see him being a future Honda Rider, but honestly, KTM are going to disrupt MotoGP in the next years quite harshly. I am excited to say the least.

Great race again, Thats 2 great Silverstone races.

Pity Hulk couldn't do more, They had a golden opportunity to perform and just couldn't convert to decent points.

Norris raced well, But my Driver of the day was Albon. He did great considering he has a car built around Max.

Vettel being classic Vettel and Lec doing well to make most of a under performing Ferrari. Loving the decision to go a softer compound. This will force Merc to change their setup to run lower downforce and bringing the other teams a little closer.

RBR FTW
