I have a Radeon 64 Vega card which constantly crashes (black screen and gpu fan on max) during games,
and then have to hard reset the pc.

I have tried the following but nothing has worked so far:

  • Uninstall drivers using DDU and reinstall
  • Updated board bios and chipset
  • Changed power supply from 650W silver to 850W gold
  • Used 2 separate PCIE power cables instead of 1 daisy chained
  • Various undervolt and power settings via Radeon software
Weirdly no crashes are experienced when running Heaven Unigine benchmarking.

I had an RX580 in the rig before running without any issues, so I dont think its mb,cpu or ram issue.

I bought this card from a fellow carbie a week ago but obviously no warranty etc.

Hopefully fellow Vega 64 owners may have a solution for me?

Hi. Did the other Carbie experience similar issues? I would return it and ask for a full refund. Its only a week and clearly something is wrong.

Sounds like it is overheating. Have you monitored temps ?
Those Vega 64 blower style models are like a furnace.
Why I avoid Vega cards in general.
Might need a new coat of thermal paste as well.
Run your PC with both sides off and get a desk fan and put it next to the card.
Play some games and see if you get a different result

The seller said he had no issues with the card, and I have to take him for his word.

I certainly will not resell this card given the issues experienced, and I would assume the same of others.

The card does run very hot ~ 82 'C when running the Unigine Heaven benchmarking software.
At 100% GPU usage it doesnt go past this temp tho.

Doubt I have the skills to redo the thermal paste, but will check some youtube videos to see if I can (y)

I will try the fan suggestion, thanks!
