Alienware AW3418DW - Will we be getting this in SA?

No this Senetic seems like a scam, even the reviews of the place is dodgy, Emmanuel Bobmanuel, had to laugh when I saw the name. Never trust anything that involves Nigeria, I've worked in Nigeria before for 2 years and bought many things online while being there, 80% of the items were fake or refurbished products. I've ordered Dr Dre headsets before while in Lagos and got Dr. Drake headsets, lasted 2 days :).

I agree, its so annoying with all these prices going up, I have been waiting to buy my new PC this December hoping the prices will drop, which is not the case. I just hope they have nice specials this Black Friday on all the new Tech.

Regarding the monitor, I really give up, I have to buy 1 this December, will have to spend the R21k on the Asus 34", no other 34" Gsync monitors in SA :'(. It's such a pity we cant get the Alienware monitor, its the best Ultrawide monitor on the market.

If this is not a scam I would buy it in a heart beat!
Well i mean they even have an app on the android/IOS store. At the end of the day though one does not really want to buy a 20k monitor and then it arrives with a dead pixel or some other fault. Shipping it back for a replacement will cost you dearly.

Of course most manufacturers don't replace a monitor unless it has at least (I think) 5 deap pixels. I belive HP is the exception. We should all be campaigning for the HP 35" (assuming it exists).

Although, since Alienware is Dell, would Dell SA uphold the warranty?

That is really a very good price, would have bought it as well! I've checked now on Hellopeter, Review Companies Online | Customer Service & Company Ratings | hellopeter.com , it seems that they are very dodgy, the positive reviews apparently is fake accounts, the rest of the reviews are all 1 star.

To much money for me to risk with them, hopefully someone here will be brave enough and update us after purchase :)

So the best thing ever just happened. The LG 34GK950G monitor just showed up on Evetech's site. This is the latest and greatest you can get. And the best part. It's R300 more than the almost 4 year old Asus Rog PG348Q. While still very expensive you can now pay what the screen actually costs. It is 1400$ on Amazon and Newegg. That's about R20500 so we are actually paying the right price.

The screen has nano IPS meaning a sRGB rating of 135% or DCI-P3 rating of 98%. Also it's 400 nits compared to all the other ultrawides of 300 nits. Has a native 100-120hz screen. For Gsync they underclock the screen to 100Hz and then you just set it to 120Hz due to the Gsync module and for the Freesync version you get 144Hz. What's so great about this is that the you don't ever have to worry about reaching that mark because the screen goes up to 144hz. You guys have obviously heard the issues some people have with the Alienware and Asus monitor where they don't even reach max refresh rates on the screens and if they do they see interlacing issues.

Screen also has aura lighting at the back which is great for eye fatigue.

Anyway i ordered one immediately when i saw this. Has a nice 3 year warranty as well. I honestly don't know how Evetech managed to get this so quick. This screen is not even in stock or available on Amazon yet. They have no stock. There is also hardly any review, that's how new this monitor is.

Nice!!!! Finally some good news.. this was my 2nd option if the Alienware didn't pan out but was worried it would also not be imported.

Guess our prayers have been answered in one way or another :p

@ShadowRaven007 - Please update this thread with pics and first impressions once received.. we would all appreciate it

I am not surprised they bring in alot more other items if requested ...

This is awesome!!

I have just ordered mine as well this morning, so glad I waited a little bit longer, I nearly bought the Asus.

Now I have to wait until next month to try it out, still stuck in Malawi :/

FFS, I just ordered an Acer 27" from Takealot. I'm a bit hesitant to buy from Evetech, altough I've never had bad service from them before. I've also never had to exchange anything, but they're known for giving hassles when you need to return anything. Anxiously awaiting your review.

Dont you get a 30 day hassle free return period at Takealot?

Yes, you do indeed. But, I bought vouchers via Momentum - I get 10% off with them - so I'll get credit, not cash back. Honestly, the LG's more than I wanted to spend anyway - did a complete system overhaul already this year - cpu, gpu(EVGA 1080ti), mobo, chassis, etc. And it might be too big as well.

I'm patiently waiting for Black Friday/Cyber Monday specials!
I was tempted, but it's a bit of a disappointment in SA, which leaves Amazon as the only alternative. I don't mind, but you struggle with resale when it's Amazon bought - even though there return service is streets ahead of anywhere in SA.

When it comes to a monitor it should probably outlast 2 to 3 or even more system upgrades... So I will gladly buy from Amazon if it ends up being at least 15-30% cheaper! ;)

I'm patiently waiting for ShadowRaven to post some Pics, Videos, Photo Albums, Voice Notes etc. on his new LG monitor :-D !!! Let us see, pleaaaassssseee!!!! Mine is still in JHB, will only be able to test it next month when I'm back in SA.

So little reviews and youtube videos on this monitor, cant find a decent video.

This boy can be imported from Amazon for R20k
Acer Predator Z35P

Its GSYNC VA and can do 120HZ like the Alienware and LG models.
If it was closer to R17k I would go for this rather than the LG at Evetech for R22k (R5k more)

@Khoisan The display arrived today. Man guys this thing is a beast. It makes my 29inch ultrawide look very small in comparison.

I cannot begin to express how happy i am. 120hz with gsync on this size with 3440x1440 is out of this world. The monitor is also very bright. Out of the box brightness is set to 70%. About 300 nits and comparable to my LG 29inch ultrawide. Pushing it to 100% i had to put on my sunglasses :p

Going from 2560x1080 to 3440x1440 also makes quite a difference in detail. I don't see pixels nearly as easily as on the 29inch. This is my first 34inch ultrawide @ 3440x1440 so i'm probably not the best guy to give opinions on this monitor but trying my best.

The aura lighting at the back is a very nice extra. It stands out quite nicely. Setup was also very easy. All i had to do was turn on the 120hz on the panel settings (which is super easy btw with the joystick) and that was it. The gsync worked out of the box. Also just had to set the 120hz in windows as well.

I just need to mention it again. 120hz with gsync on this size, man it's heaven. Buttery smooth and not any tearing in sight in games.

Some pics. A bit difficult to take picutes of a curved display but in real life it looks great. Also looks much bigger in person than on a photo.

When can I come over for coffee?
I will bring some cookies!

You will still need to pay duties on that - probably around 25% iirc.
Thats included everything...
I took it all the way through the Amazon ordering where I just have to pay.
And they state that they take full responsibility if the shipping and import duties is more than what they quoted, they will take the loss.
Also when the shipping and import fees is less than what they quoted they will refund the customer...

My Amazon account is set up with a South African shipping address and the item is eligible for shipping to South Africa.
But still I would like the total price to be closer to R17k than R20k if I decide to import, VS the R22k for the LG.
