Anybody else share the same sediment that Nvidia and Intel's whole monopoly over AI is actually just another way to control and document our lives.

Isn't it just insane that an entire industry has switched from providing the most efficient and powerful CPUs just to shift the entire focus to damn accommodating AI intergration in the next major update od windows and all other operating systems including IOS.

We saw EA lose 90% of it's consumer base not listening to what their users actually wants and throwing out an incomplete Battlefield.
Yeah I use to be a farboy.

So where exactly are we heading. So just when you thought maybe AMD won't get brainwashed by Nvidia's stockmarket success....oh shit here they go too...clearly seen by the upcoming release of the new 9000 series cpus.

Shame. Well thank God I chose to spend R75000 on a 14th gen system because it seems to be the last Gen of freedom

Rant finished...
Well not exactly but for now st least

You remind me of the old lady I saw with tape over the front camera of her smartphone

Whahahah I wish
Show me any next gen cpu that can outperform my current 14th gen i9 lol...
Oh shit the benchmarks will probably score your cpu according to bing handles lol

What GPU do you have?

Because all the RTX ones have tensor cores - and who knows what data they're processing in the background *tin foil on*

Logic just tells me...
Nvidia bragging with robots based on AI to replace us...
Their stock levels are in the trillions now, so whats next.
An entire population unemployed and they want me to jump on the band wagon
No sir
I like money and I like my job
I have seen all the Terminator movies and I know the enemy isn't robots killing us.
Rather robots replacing us.
I don't do too well outside in the cold

As I see it currently Intel has overcome their limitations in providing better CPUs with the current silicone and tech available as seen by the decrease in speeds gained over newer generations.
They have focused to Ai as they have clearly noticed that the Snapdragon will soon outperform them not only in X86 but X64 too so instead of taking it on the nose, rather shift the main media focus on AI chios while we work on our new 288 cors Xeon cpu.

AI is lame, overrated and not what we or I asked for.

I am an emergency service manager and I do 3d environments in my spare time. I create assets for overseas TV stations so they can impose their own characters over my background.
Where does AI leave my hobby and extra income if anyone can soon create these backgrounds and 3d assets by just typing in a few words

We should all be upset and apposed to this but instead we see Nvidia and all AI stock rising in value by the minute.

Burn it all down I say

Nah. Intel and nvidea are not your problems. They are just coining it on the hardware side of the AI craze.

If you want to be concerned, direct it towards things like microsoft, openai, facebook, google, etc. :p

There's one reason that they're doing it..money. Companies see some value in AI, and they are willing to pay for it.
It's the new crazy, have a look at der8auer's Computex video on companies slapping AI to everything:

Just look at Nvidia's share price over the last year, and you'll see why everyone wants a piece of the pie

Dude you're just rehashing what every creative has been saying for the last 14/15 months

Its coming and no one is stopping it

BUT ....and this is the cool part

You and I will be long dead before the terminator style shit stars going down

2100 The entire world will probably be run off some type of AI if not completely, humans will be in decline unless the AI can figure out how to feed us if we are beneficial to keep around

I won't want to be around then

AI is a big deal in the company I work at, it's getting pushed into every crack that our execs can find. And it's failing us in hilarious ways, because the I in AI isn't all that I. It's massively oversold regarding its capabilities. Don't worry too much homie, it's not yet disruptive. As with most things in life, it's 90% hype and 10% delivery.

Had an interesting lecture with Microsoft's 'responsible AI' legal counsel. She explained how they do their development and what safeguards they have in place, including refusing to sell certain technologies to the US government because they acknowledge it is not to be completely trusted.

But anyone who thinks AI is a magical cure-all that will replace all employees and drive company profits through the roof hasn't experienced what present AI can and can't do. I mean sure accelerators will assist but unless you have them set up like a crypto farm you're not going to see miracles. I use Copilot and its already clear its basic and that there is insufficient processing power available for it to be more than good at doing basic summaries.

In the law space what is being pushed is the idea that you can boost performance through automation of some tasks and better ability to research. But thats not really going to get you far unless you have the skills to tailor your queries to ensure AI isn't churning out random responses.

A friend is an artist and has also feared the rise of AI. Interestingly he's now coming around because he's also now seeing the creative side and the ability to use his creativity to generate art he could only dream of before. But at the heart of that is having the creativity to be descriptive in your prompts, something most folk aren't very good at.

Someone didn't buy stonks...

Listen, any company that fails to adapt to changes in the world will fall behind.
What's NVIDIA's purpose? To make money

Exactly.
I just think it's dumb taking the stock market success of AI as an indication that that's whats in demand and needed, but actually the stock market gives a damn about advancements and only about financial gain.

Let get one thing straight...
AI is popular currently because it's making investors and companies rich.
Well it probably beats starting a WAR lol

What I find "funny" is how all the exec's are prematury ejaculating over Ai, while "ignoring" the EXISTING security issues in their organizations....... Issues that will only be compounded with additional (new) tech......

The term Ai, seems to make peoples eyes gloss over, much like when you say "cyber-security" , "penetration testing" etc.

Saw a vid on YT about Amazon and its self-checkout stores powered by "Ai", which turned out to be a team of 1000 people in India....

Comments section was on top form :p EG "So Ai really stands for Actually Indians" fuck, I cackled at that.

OP's like 8 - very good chance he'll still be around.

The stock market's success is an indication of what's in demand and needed. There is long term analysis on what advancements will happen.

Just because some people display how AI failed them doesn't reflect the true potential of the tech.

I and plenty of other software devs I know have utilized AI successfully to supplement our jobs.

AI is cool and all. But did you see the stonks?

This was an eye opener to me:

Its already in use. Its actually a handy subset when used properly. If I have two incompatible systems or data sets and need to manually process and collate then I train AI to mimic my mouse movements and key presses. Of course the flip side is that if you can install it on someone's system it can learn how they use their system.

The privacy issue though is real which is why we had to do a company-wide uitkak recently when we found out some folk were using third-party software to do voice-to-text transcripts for meetings. The fallout was that at least one snippet of confidential information became part of the description of the company when you ask one of the AI systems about it.

The issue he discussed in the video is that once the information has been processed via Azure AI, it gets stored locally, and this metadata can be easily obtained by third party programs.

Wired managed to manipulate the API into spitting out the information via an API token injection, without administrative permissions.

I don't know too much about API's, but I know it acts like a "bridge" to transmit information from one program to another, like the "handshake" that old-school devices used to use over LPT ports. - Shouldn't the API also be encrypted? Are API's encrypted?
