I have tried both fiver and upwork and both have not worked out. People just don't seem to actually click on your ads or accept your proposals.

And it is very difficult to even make it worthwhile to even compete with other nations especially India. They are happy to do video edits for like 2 or 3 dollars.

That is discouraging. I was hoping on eventually using my shitty little niche skillset on a site like that. Where is the reset button on this game (aka life)?

I know that I can make quite a bit of money with forex but I've spent most of my disposable cash in the learning process.. Now that I've finally gotten a hold of it, I don't have any funds to actually make it happen.

Life is tough for many right now.

Like I took a $100 account to $300 in a week... However markets can be unforgiving and not always so easy to read.

Also think about creating training videos of a specific skill and uploading it to udemy?

Your best way of making money is finishing a degree like engineering or programming.

You’ll clear R130K a month with enough experience.

If you’re working and getting paid dog shit, move. It’s the only way you’ll increase your salary a reasonable amount. It’s something I am going to do now after 4 years banking experience.

How much experience do you need with programming to CLEAR R130K a month? That means you need to earn R220K per month before deductions... That's over 2.5 million a year.

Sorry, I meant 130K gross, not better.

Yes, unless your a programming CEO of your own company, you’ll never earn R220K gross per month.

I know a multi-millionaire who started off life coding and now runs his own business.

The problem with side business, and I’ve tried trading crypto for example, is that it eats into your normal working hours and that can be a problem.

Jack of all trades, master of none as they say.

If your current career path isn’t paying enough, you need a new path.

Also know of a techie guy that was working in our company...left and started his own bussiness, got bought out by our company and is essentially getting paid more then our africa leader at this stage...some people just get lucky from the get go.

My best advice is to move into an area that is highly skilled, and in demand. Programming is one of them. I was a tech about 7 years ago and salary (take home) was around 15k p/m. Got over it and got into mobile development and moved to a bigger company Today, my salary is many times that.

Side businesses never really work out unless its not too niche enough that it can grow into a full time gig.

Even R130k gross is pretty out there for a salaried person who is a programmer.
There are a few guys earning that I'm sure... but it isn't the norm.

Depends what field. I'm working as a data scientist, while finishing my Computer Science Masters and the people around me earn insane salaries.

They buy a massive coffee machine barista style , get a mobile trailer thing and start lining up at events and movie sets etc

Has anyone looked at sites like freelancer.com , odesk or upwork?
and what was the experience, made some money or is it a waste of time ?
Those sites are hard to compete on... You are competing with countries where to cost of living is a lot lower than here... People work for JUST more than nothing there.

I’m talking about someone with 20 years experience who was snapped up by a very desperate Absa so it’s a lot but programmers are worth their weight.

A good programmer can replace an entire department and save a fortune for a company.

Each company is trying to reduce the number of staff on their books.
