Hi all, I need some advise on how i can add a 4TG U.2 SSD on my motherboard. i know one way is to use the Pcie lanes with a controller card but those are a bit hard to find. i was wondering if i could use the Startech U.2 host adapter card on the M.2 slot on my motherboard. Description on this card (link below) says it works on all motherboards that have M.2 PCIe x4 host interface but im not sure if my board has this or not.
If not then can you advise what other controller cards i can use?

Thanks for your advise :).

Based on the specs of your motherboard:

"Supports PCIe 3.0 x4 (AMD® Ryzen 1st and 2nd Generation/ Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics) or PCIe 3.0 x2 (AMD® Athlon™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics) and SATA 6Gb/s 2242/ 2260 /2280 storage devices."

So, to answer your first question, yes - your board does have the specified interface.

Whether this means it would work or not, is another story. Consider emailing RS-Tech with your motherboard and SSD's model numbers to confirm.

My experience with U.2 SSDs and M.2 to U.2 adapters is that the stuff's a pain and you might end up wasting money buying stuff that won't necessarily work.
I burned myself once with a 3.84TB U.2 drive that worked in some Asus motherboards but not on my Gigabyte boards.
There was a bunch of nonsense, like some people saying you need a specific M.2 to U.2 Gigabyte adapter and stuff - basically it wasn't that that simple for me.
Not to mention that the cable itself (if you don't have one) is also like R400 on it's own and is sometimes tricky to find

ah ok thanks for the advise guys. is there any other options maybe i can try though?
