A4 2.0TDI - Jerking when accelerating

Holy shit. Sounds like you've lived the nightmare. Glad it's sorted.

I have the same issue with my N55 335i and some serious misfiring on startup and acceleration. 2015 model. 75k kms stage 2 custom tune with charge pipe, down pipe and mid pipe changed by PowerPipes. I've checked the plugs, injectors, sensors, boost leak, etc. I did find an oil leak from the tappet cover gasket which was moving it's way onto one of the oxygen sensors in the exhaust which was replaced. Same issue. Car is at a local tech that's pretty good with BMWs. Let's see what he finds...

Jerking Audi is fixed,

Thank you Glen26, for lending me your VCDS

Injector was wide open (2.99) on cylinder number 1

Turns out the injectors I reconed was still the problem with my car, and not the head gasket as they and many others suggested.

Monday bought one injector from a scrapyard in Bloem, R3000.00 and today I replaced mine on cylinder number 1 at Auto Mechanic place in Welkom, Labor was R600.00

Car is 100% working, no jerking, nothing else is wrong, and drives like a new car.

Awesome :) So the moral of the story is don't throw parts at something if you do not have the correct data :D

Spray carb cleaner in the intake while it is idling, if the miss fire gets better then you could have Oxygen sensor problem.
Miss fire on start up? Well get the coolant system pressure tested for a few hours and put a bore scope in each cylinder to see if there is water.

Only on hard acceleration or right through, if you accelerate slow and there's no misfire, might be a coil messing around, check the coils, if there's any white powder substance on the suppressors (the rubber part of the coil that goes the plugs) especially on the sides of the rubber, then it's throwing spark away there

Awesome news!
Out of interest sake what was the cost to troubleshoot the issue to get to this point?

If it wasn't for Glens VCDS, Thousands more would have been spend.

Just buy a VCDS Cable with software (R1000 at most), don't go to local mechanics for diagnostics ect, and do troubleshoot yourself.

Where does one buy this? I may want to do this for my Mazda, it has literally been in a warehouse for 3 years because of the jerking, and because my clutch went but still, thing has just been sitting.

Hey guys

Not to sure on the Mazda side of things, I got my VCDS cable off Aliexpress years ago.
This is more or less what you might need to scan your car.

You'll need to make sure its supported with your car as there are different versions and cable models available.
Hopefully this can assist with getting your car back on the road.

After visits to 2 different mechs we’ve found that one of the cylinders wasn’t closed fully and there was a leak when tested. That’s been sorted thankfully without costing too much. I’ve changed my plugs and 1 coil. There was aggressive misfiring on startup and jerking at all speeds. Gentle acceleration and when you floor it. The fuel pump is pushing at 30 bar(or something of the sort). Guy was saying I might have to change my hpfp and line if I want to continue running this numbers.
Compression tests were carried out after the fix and all was within spec. I took my car to BMW for a final service under “motorplan” as it ends in Feb 2021. BMW didn’t find any issues(so they say).

A video of the misfiring at startup, acceleration and dyno chart:

I know the car is running rich with loads of unburnt fuel(due to decat). The 1 plug was soaked in fuel as well. That’s the same coil I changed. It’s possible that the tune with the pops and bangs does affect this and also doesn’t throw up any lights. Which is a bummer. I might have to remove the tune and go for an aftermarket plugin like Bootmod3. Any opinions or suggestions for a tune or plugin?

Anyone used the Konnwei KW850 or any Foxwell scanners?

That works but it's very basic, get you an inpa setup (cable and software costs about R750-R850) and do a live reading, check your rough idle in it, that'll point you in the right direction, it'll show you which cylinder is out of spec compared to the others

I’ll check on this.
Maybe I’ll bring my car through to one of the Carbies here in Jhb...I heard there’s quite a few tech heads. These things boggle my mind😁

I need some assistance with a problem I am having with my Audi

A4 2.0TDI B7 2008 BLB

Bought cash 2nd Hand 2018 - WeBuyCars Midstream - AS IS - R65000.00
Full Service record - Rustenberg
No warranty
NO ASSISTANCE from Audi even with the car full service history
Drove this car like 8 months without any problem.

Long Story short, Jerking when accelerating.

When Hot the car is jerking when accelerating
Now it's after starting the car, Cold or Hot jerking when accelerating
If driving more than 10km it's a nightmare

4 months ago it started, filled the car with diesel, and the next morning it was jerking when driving around town, now I was told it
is dirty injectors, so I went with New Diesel filter, so I also bought injector cleaner.

What I did.

Diesel Filter with T piece / R400
Wynns Injector & Turbo Cleaner / Full Tank / R90 + Diesel
Wynns Dry Fuel / Full Tank Again / R90 + Diesel
Injector Purge / R800 later

The same did not solve anything.

After I had the car at 3 Mechanics and Audi in Welkom they all said it's injectors. R13000 each Goldwagen Prices !
Diagnosed the car with code reader, and there was a open circuit on injector bank 1 / R2800 to repair quote
Open circuit was the wire connector that was lose / Costed me R1200 at garage from friend

Injectors Tested, Injectors were 100% fine on test but I Re-conned them by Diesel Bosch Welkom R3200 each R12800.00

Problem still the same

Now Mechanics at Audi Welkom said it's either one of these

Went with Goldwagen Price

Fuel Lift Pump - Replaced R9000 Audi / R1200 Goldwagen
Fuel / Vaccuum Pump - Replaced / R25000 Audi / R4500 Goldwagen
EGR Valve Tested and Cleaned / Replaced with EGR Delete Kit / R500 job
Removed Cats / Then Strait Piped it / R1500 Best Drive Welkom
O2 Sensor replaced now it's replaced with a dummy for the check engine light R200 Best Drive Welkom

Problem is still there

Cam Sensor / Speed Control Censor Replaced / R650 Goldwagen did it myself as Audi wants to book in car, and R5500 later

Problem still there

MAF Sensor replaced R800
Turbo Censor replaced R450
Boost Pipes checked for leakes or cracks R0.00
Turbo Cleaned and turbo actuator replaced R750
Took off the manifold and cleaned it, also replaced all manifold caskets R200 for caskets

Also I now did a full service with new Diesel filter, fuel pipes, cleaned the tank, Glow plugs, lift pump fuse, main fuse, all car fuses, and fuel pipes changed / R3500 job

Checked the ECU for Water damage and tested ECU at Audi / R1200 to test it neh

No fault codes appear and no engine lights come on at all and still nothing / R450 for diagnostics done

ECU Reprogrammed with Stage 1 Soft Mod from Revo, remap I think they call it that, R3500

Went back to Diesel Bosch Welkom, they did test again, nothing wrong. R250 each to test

------------------

Spend around R30k on repairs and getting no were.
Every person that tries to help me is saying it's the injectors

I am left with 2x options now

Top gasket (No burning oil, and no boiling water or using water, temps is normal even if driving out of town 200km trips) R5000 - R7000
Turbo (Spins freely, and no play, No smoke) R9500 Turbo and if I import it R6000, then to fit R2000 ?

Turbo is a GT1749v also a GTA1749 will work

Clutch is not slipping, but can it be clutch causing all this nonsense R6000 - R8000
No engine or gearbox mountings broken
No leaks like oil, or main gear seal leak
No Vacuum leaks
No smoke when driving
No misfire on idle
Still drives, jerks on low rpm and there seems to be boost and now and then low boost, but it's there, high rpm it's fine, but then it's driving it like you stole it.

Not sure what the actual fuck is it with this car. Anyone maybe know what it can be, or know a place or someone that can fix it.
Check the coils had the same problem on a car many years ago.
