9700k overheating

Silly question, but what orientation is your Radiator in your case,

Could you upload a picture of your case so can see in?

O an also make sure that your pump power plug is plugged into the header on your board and then the Sata connector aswell is connected properly

Can you show the front and top of the case?

Dont know if you've tried, but install that cooler as a front intake (fans in front, blowing onto radiator/into case). In my experience, exhaust has never been a worthwhile option if you could rather have intake.

Intake > exhaust > potatoes.

Alternatively, get this :)

This seems to be the chosen one \m/

The fans are sucking air upwards into the radiator correct, and not pulling downwards?
yes fans are exhausting air through the radiator out of the case. mounting infront is not an option as it only support 120mm fans.

so I connected the USB cable and installed corsair icue software. set pump to extreme and fans on balanced. still same problem with prime within 3sec it hits 100c. what I notice that someone mentioned in this thread is that the one pump is very hot and the other one cool. could be cooler...

If one pipe is hot and another is cool then I'm afraid that cooler is gone.

I had the same issue with the same cooler and had it RMA'd through evetech where I bought it.

Maybe it's a foggy brain, but surely water into block is cold and water out is hot?
I'm not understanding a hit and cold pipe means pump is broken?

A failed pump would let heat soak both pipes?

Actually if the pump failed neither pipe would be hot because no liquid would flow.

Or would it heat both pipes?

With an Aircon a hot and cold pipe makes sense however with such a small loop and a large amount of flow, you should feel close to no difference between those 2 pipes.

There might be SOME flow left but not enough to circulate enough water to sync the 2 temps.

It's the cooler I am 99% sure. I also had an H115i and 2 months ago the exact same thing happened 1 pipe hot and 1 cold. Idle temps were 40-50 and under load would get to 90C. I changed the cooler and temps were back to normal. RMA it.

@D3adR4t Can you at least just feel the 2 pipes and tell us if they are hot/cold/different/the same, then we can at least rule that out, it shouldnt take much effort..

Hey guys,

So an update:

removed the cooler and repast using thermal grizzly kryonaut and mounted the cooler properly. Also connected the usb cable installed icue software and the pump to maximum performance.

Did stress test with prime, this time it took a bit longer but maximum temps was 95 degrees which is still very high, also fired up metro last light during intro scene temps reach 90 degrees. Idling temps are in the mid 30s. still seeing the 1.4v on max load.

One pump is hot and second pump is normal.

Seems like the past help a bit but still not near where this cooler should perform.

What are idle Temps?
If they're low, then it could mean that bios is giving too many volty bois when under load.
If so then change voltage manually.

That sounds like an improvement. Have you gone through the BIOS settings. Or better yet, done a restore of base settings?

idling = +-35 degrees. Im still expecting much more from this cooler.

I have no clue how to manually adjust voltage on asus board. This is my first asus motherboard by the way.

any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hay bud.
Go into the bios and load defaults.
That should reset any issues and then see if you are still experiencing the high temps.

Alternatively, I'm sure one of us could assist with a whatsapp call while you are in the bios so help check your settings.

Bios is on default. what i also noticed now. when i scanned my C drive which is a M.2 NVME ssd with windows defender, temps reach 100 degrees and voltages is about at 1.32v.

So this is definitely not the voltages causing this.

I rekon its either a blockage or the pump.
if you touch the pump does it feel like its vibrating at all?

Can also check if the heatsink is making good coverage or contact on the cpu by removing it and seeing how the paste is laid out, if its spread evenly that the heatsink making full contact based on how the tim is spread

So the H115i i replaced i gave to a mate and helped him try to get it going again last night.
We unscrewed the CPU contact plate to drain it and what came out seemed to be some sort of organic matter as if something was growing inside, large chunks too.
We cleaned it, refilled it with car coolant, resealed it and put it on his system.

He was idling at 30°C and at full load it gets to 55°C and before we were easily hitting 100°C.

The pipes now feel close to the same again.

Thought this might be interesting for some so im sharing.
